Wish I knew what owner he was talking about (so I could call and thank him).

Really...there is a lot to do in life other than sit and watch these highly paid, unpatriotic losers. Maybe watch agaion after they cut the PC BS.

You mean the owner that pays your check every week expects you to comport yourself a certain way? How shocking.

“...claimed that some owners “have taken a stand and told players to do certain things, which I think is egregious”

In keeping with every employer on the planet.

Every distinctly US institution is falling apart.

Oh - you would be referring to the whole, "You choose to work for me, you do what I say" thing?

Actually I want all of the players to express themselves—so we know which teams to boycott!

You protest on your own time and in your own place....not on company time and in a company uniform.

Seems BLM insists on crapping in their own nests and biting the hands that feed them. Fools.

Past tense of a sexual act, usually regarded as an obscenity.

“NFL ownership is overwhelmingly white”

And most are unpatriotic gutless wonders as well.

Egregious? Doug Baldwin can’t even spell the word much less think of it himself.

I wonder which white guy wrote this for him to recite?

And since when does an employee have the right to say whatever he wants when the result is damage to the business owned by his employer?

If you are willing to wear pink socks during October, you should be willing to stand for the National Anthem.

Seems easy for an owner:

“You get paid to play football. I make money when you play football. We will both make less money when you ‘express yourself’ on the field rather than just play football. If you would rather ‘express yourself’ on my time you will not play football because it costs me money which will cost you money. What kind of contract do you think you’ll get when our contract runs out if you’ve been on IR without practice or game time from now til then?”

Make sure the agent (who understands his cut) is at the meeting to explain what that means.

Hey Doug—I can call you Doug, right?—The operative word is “owner.” As in “I paid for it; it’s mine to do with as I please.” Another term for owner is Boss.

The other operative work is “employee.” As in, what you are.

Employees work for bosses. The appropriate response from an employee to a boss is “Yes sir.” (or ma’am, as the case may be).

If you don’t like the situation, you can leave.

Simple as that.

If I owned a team I would drop any player that did this.

“Keep boycotting the FNL until all owners comply.”

I take it you mean the NFL.

Also everyone should refrain from purchasing ANYTHING connected to the NFL and their sponsors, such as Nike, Gatorade, etc.

Let Dick’s Sporting Goods, et. al., go complaining to the NFL that going ‘anti-American’ ain’t good for business - that’ll have quite a bit impact as well.

You signed the contract. If you don't like what the ownership tells you to do, ask to resign.

==

The NFL opened this door years ago when they allowed political/health issue demonstrations: pink, for example.

The NFL, like all pro-sports, are for the entertainment of the customers, not political forums to further political agendas.

Play ball. Anything else is beyond the unwritten contract you have with the viewership.

Saw where Bridgestone is the Official Tire of the NFL.

Took a picture of my new Michelin tires and sent it to them.

"You’re going to stand on the line with your hand on your heart and you’re going to sing the national anthem because this is my stage.”

I wonder what owner that was. He and I could be friends. I am already in full boycott mode.
