Thanks for the links. That mikes weather page is great. Earily calm winds right now down here in northern broward. For anyone who has accordion shutters, that advice to oil them once a year is spot on. Mine were almost rusted useless. Not good to deal with as this thing approaches. Fortunately I was able to get them all shut. I’ll never let that slide again. Best of luck to everyone and hopefully this stays off shore.

I would imagine that Mississippi and other states will be sending utility crews en masse. Florida was one of those that sent their crews after Katrina and had power up in record time which made things more bearable.

Thank you for posting the hurricane threads. I have family in FL - they are inland and in the tropical storm warned areas & not in evac areas. Nevertheless, there is still danger and we are very concerned for them and everyone else in harms way.

As humans, we think we’re pretty smart, like to be in control of everything and try to be in control ... yet again, we are reminded how small and weak we truly are when faced with the forces of Nature. It always humbles me.

Ever drive up or down I-95 between Savannah and Brunswick Georgia?
You are crossing tidal creeks/marshes.
The projected tidal surge along there is going to be 10-15 ft.
I won’t be surprised if parts of I-95 are washed away.

This could be catastrophic. S. Fla. had a strict building code (was relaxed some during Jimmie’s reign to make housing more affordable) but farther north in Fla.and esp.Jacksonville, S. Ga. not likely.

I'm praying for everyone in the path of this storm. Please take this seriously and make proper preperations. I'm very relieved to have learnmed that my sister and her family have evacuated from Daytona Beach this morning. They live just two blocks from the beach and they needed to get gone!
