OAKLAND (BCN)—The Oakland City Council on Tuesday night will consider a proposal to name a section of De Fremery Park in West Oakland for a 17-year-old Black Panther Party member who was killed in a confrontation with Oakland police in 1968.
City Council President Lynette Gibson McElhaney, who represents West Oakland, said she and Councilman Larry Reid are recommending that the city name the grove of trees on the park’s south side “Bobby Hutton Grove” to recognize his contribution to Oakland.

Back in the 90’s when I lived in the Bay Area they closed a street in Oakland (Telegraph Ave, I think) for a long funeral procession for heroin dealer Felix Mitchell. A long procession of people followed a parade of limos with loud speakers playing the Sade song, “Smooth Operator”.

The Black Lives Matter folks in Seattle met for 3 days wuth the former Seattle Black Panthers for “discussions” a couple of weekends ago.
They covered it in the local press...talking hughly of the “breakfast programs” the pathers started to feed poor kids. Left out of the coverage was how the Panthers put a bomb in the grocery store when they refused to give free food to the panthers.
Shortly after the meetings the BLM changed their name to the Black Liberation Family.
Last Saturday they held a protest where 300 people showed up and more than half were SEIU folks. The local media is hiding or ignoring the fact that the guy leading the protest is mentally disabled....and I don’t say that to be mean...only to point put that a person who clearly has sever autism or similar ailment(when you watch his youtube channel) is not who we should look to for guidance on public policy.
Again I say that not to be mean or to demean or disparage those on the autism spectrum.....I say this only to recognize the plain fact that complex public policy takes leadership by people who have the full mental capacity required to discern truth from fiction and wisdom from folly.
Oakland has been a communist and black extremists/idiots paradise since the 1960’s.
If honoring an armed BPP thug is what they think is important, then they shouldn’t complain when their schools turn out imbeciles and incompetents.
Eldridge Cleaver later renounced his BPP days and activities and told the truth about what really happened, stuff that didn’t show up in the media.
Also, his book “Soul on Ice”, was reportedly more fiction than truth, esp. he claims about raping white women. Got this from a fed investigator in the know.
PS: As a sidebar: Hillary worked for Charles R. Gary (Communist Party USA member and supporting lawyer) who had headed the defense of the radicals known as the “Oakland 7”.
This was a precursor tactical run for the Chicago 7 trials. If it worked, i.e. disrupting the court, discrediting the witnesses and the judge, and creating media chaos/publicity, then it would be adopted for the Chicago 7 trial.

Hillary worked with Gary at the New Haven Black Panther torture-murder trial of the BBP killers of their own member Alex Rackley. In fact the law firm that Gary was a senior member of, was a CPUSA westcoast legal asset (Burstein, Treuhaft, DOris Brin Walker, Charles R. Gary).

My parents moved to the Bay Area in 1936. When I was old enough to understand, they told me that back when they first arrived the “professors” at UC Berkely were openly talking about making berkeley the first Communist City in the country. We lived in Oakland right after the end of WWII in a very nice appt house near Lake Merritt. Now that neighborhood has gone completely minority and it’s not a place I’d go after dark. Oakland’s problem IS THE MINORITIES, AND THE PEOPLE THEY ELECT. All of the problems there are as a consequence of WWII and it’s aftermath, and the Berkeley professors.
No, not after a crock, or a grove of trees. Paint his name on some memorial trash cans.
When I lived in Chicago I had some 50 gallon trash cans painted Green with my Alderman’s name stenciled on them.
If its ok for a Chicago its should be ok for Oakland. “If you want to go big, put his name on a dumpster or a restroom.”

On night, my brother and I were waiting down the street when a car load tried to grab us. Thankfully some bikers saw what was happening and stepped in.
