Can Environmentalist make up their minds? North Atlantic right whales rebound in Bay of Fundy

A marine biologist and leading researcher of North Atlantic right whales has declared 2016 a banner year for the beleaguered Bay of Fundy.

Moira Brown, a senior scientist with the New England Aquarium and the Canadian Whale Institute, has been studying whales for more than three decades and says after five years of desert-like conditions, an unexpected richness and diversity of sea-life has returned to the bay.

Two stories on Right Whales within a month of each other and contradicting each other from the same news source... Bad journalism, or bad science? You gotta love hypocrisy.

Was the marine biologist named George Castanza by any chance? That would explain the bad science.

Quite some time ago I saw two articles in pretty quick succession:

1) (paraphrased, of course) “Sperm whales are highly endangered. At one point, their global population may have been as high as 150,000 — but today, due to relentless human whaling, their population is dramatically reduced and they may become extinct.”

2) (paraphrased, of course) “A new global study has produced the most accurate assessment of the sperm whale population so far. Scientists now believe that there are only 250,000 of the great beasts left — far fewer than there were before relentless human whaling dramatically reduced their population, putting them on the edge of extinction.”

There is no “global warming”. There is no man made “climate change” until they tell us how to measure it with empirical data. It is all a rues to get your stuff.

We are thinking of going to Novia Scotia next year, I hear it is beautiful, especially the Bay of Fundy area.

Haven't yet got to see a right whale. Dual blowholes.

Narrowly missed getting hint by humpback whale spit by about 18" or so.

Yes, Nova Scotia is beautiful. Cape Breton Island has the fortress of Louisbourg, restored to look like it did in 1744..the Canadian answer to Colonial Williamsburg, among other attractions.
