I’m just a dumb Catholic Italian from NYC :)

Someone tried to explain and break down the major Christian denominations and my head hurt.

I guess the best thing to do is live by the bible (my current pope has some screws loose so I can’t trust him fully). My OTHER current pope, I like. :)

As you know, Catholics tend to vote D. Which has been curious since the party of abortion has been the Rats for fourth years.

Non Catholics are more complicated, as you know. A good deal of the Catholic Church in the US have been Irish and Italian immigrants and the bulk of them stayed on the East Coast which, again you know. The Spanish were out West first and were not uncommon in my youth in the 50s and 60s and they are Catholic as well.

The folks in between these groups of Catholics are a real mixed bag. The Methodists were started by John Wesley. In his time the prevalent denominations were the “American Church of England” and the churches of the original colonies, the Baptists and Quakers of PA and Rhode Island. Lutherans came with the Swedes and German immigration into the Midwest in the 1880s adding to the Palatine Germans who were already in upper New York. Wesley was a fervent, passionate true believer, who like Johnny Appleseed dropped his “new” approach over this tapestry that was already complicated.

The big difference between Baptists and Methodists that ultimately became the two largest groups was this, the Baptists were fiercely independent and to this day own the buildings. That is the people in the pews own the place and decide who runs things. The Methodists on the other hand, only the central church owns anything. They send pastors out, make all decisions, etc. While Baptist churches join voluntarily in larger coalitions such as the “Southern Baptists” the larger group actually has very little authority. Methodists, the opposite is true. In the last few decades Methodists had been a ripe target for libtard takeover and long ago joined the “Ecumenical Council of Churches” which is a cluster of Lutheran, Episcopal, and various libtard churches and is, essentially a front for commies. Which is why you see all these folks who claim to be Christian but are pretty obviously atheist commies who network at “church”.

Sorry, I know it is long but I don’t think it could be shorter.
