I vaguely recall from childhood that Barry M. Goldwater also had large crowds, and he finished with some 39 percent of the ballots cast and thus counted.
Little ladies were scared to death of Goldwater and turned out from WA to TX and CA to ME to vote for the popular LBJ-HHH ticket.
NOBODY in US presidential politics has ever had bigger crowds or more enthusiasm than William Jennings Bryan, who failed three times as the Dem nominee.
Yeah, you're right... these millions will stand for 8-to-12 hours in the baking sun just to get a glimpse of the man. They'll brave cold and rain all night just to get into the arena where he'll be the next day!
But actually vote for him? NO WAY, right Vlad?

Use all your faculties, Vlad. Take in all that is happening around you. Then base a well-informed decision on ALL the data.
These are not just "big crowds," Vlad, but 20-to-50-times bigger than Hillary. This is called an "enthusiasm gap," and it's what wins—or loses—an election.
SO for the very few of us who are predicting a "landslide," we do so because the data militates for it.
And for the millions of rubber-headed naysayers who have been Pavlovized into abject fear of elections by loser nitwit GOP candidates like Dole, McCain and Romney (understandable...) so badly as to have their opinions informed by decades of terror at the ballot box, you have my sympathy. It can't be easy for you.
But it well get better. And so will you.

I think most will show up - and that won’t be enough. Even if every person who has EVER seen Trump in person shows up, it will be a paltry few million at most.

Many of them didn’t, but that doesn’t mean they won’t vote for her.
Look, you’re missing the point. I have no doubt that enthusiasm is on Trump’s side. I just don’t think it makes sense to equate rally attendance with victory 5 weeks before election day. To me, it makes more sense to look at the early returns in Florida for absentee ballots. Trump is in the lead - that’s a good sign. The one reservation there is that many Republicans WORK and therefore file absentee ballots so they do not have to skip work to vote.

I don’t want to get over a Trump landslide. I want the landslide. Hopefully you’ll get over your dishonesty is repeatedly misrepresenting what I said. Somehow I doubt that.
