Jewish leaders have reacted angrily after Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte compared his anti-drug campaign to the Holocaust.
The comment-wrongly citing numbers killed by the Nazis-was inhumane and deeply offensive.
Mr. Duterte said he would kill as many addicts as Hitler did Jews in his crackdown on users and dealers.
"Hitler massacred three million Jews...there's three million drug addicts. I'd be happy to slaughter them," he said.......

His point was he has no qualms about wiping out drug dealing. Kudos for him. Don’t miss the point he intended to make by sucking in the smoke screen the media is throwing up.
I don't think him getting the number wrong was really the worst part.
It's no coincidence that you don't find serious drug problems in countries that are ruthless in dealing with drug trafficking.
Would it be okay, then, if he'd used the generally-accepted estimate of Jewish Holocaust victims and said he would be happy to slaughter six million drug addicts?
There’s no doubt they took the bait and went right for the Jewish leaders to get the obligatory denunciations.....
But I don’t believe in killing people just because they are drug addicts.
Its easy to be angry with others, see them as inferior.
Its worse when one thinks they should be dead, like this guy is saying. He said he would be glad to kill millions of drug addicts.
I’m told that Narcotics Anonymous meetings end with some line “keep coming back or go out there and die”.
Duterte seems to want to make that notion a reality.
He said drug users, not drug dealing.
Why are you supporting a pro China Leftist ? He has repeatedly called himself a Leftist.
His point backfired though. I understand the reasoning behind it, but what he used for comparison was just wrong. Should’ve used a wasp nest at the very least.
Let me guess, youve always wanted to be a death row corrections officer.
Duterte should be asked if he speaks Japanese.
It is evidence of how bad things are in the Philippines that they turned to this guy. I have no qualms with being tough on crime. However this guy has turned it up to 11 and then some.
1) He has effectively suspended the law and endorsed official vigilantism. The police are summarily executing those they believe are criminals.
2) Then he turns around and is offering to reconcile with Muslim extremists and communist guerillas.
3) Then he indicates that he wants to distance himself from the US and appease China.
The Philippine people are sacrificing their liberties and long term interests for short term security. It is tempting, but ultimately will not turn out well for them. Benjamin Franklin put it best:
“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
Will do.
And here's your reward for taking in a double lungful of BBC BS:
I've heard the word "millions" used to describe the number of addicts that have turned themselves in for treatment because NOW they're forced to kick .... no dealer ... no drug.
Duterte is EXTREMELY loved by his countrymen.
And he has done so much since June 30, his inauguration.
WE have a similar opportunity to get a man to take control where a wimpy girly muslim used to be.
I spent a lot of time on death row. Is there anything you would like to know about it?
Some of you guys do NOT understand my moniker and probably never will. Absolutely no apologies for what I have posted on FR since I become a member. We are coming to a time of reckoning and consequences. The things that are going on in life can NOT continue. Hide and watch, wait and see.
Good quote.
