Fact-checking Lester Holt at the First Presidential Debate: Did America Get a Raise in 2015?

For Lester Holt, the economy has been performing well, but there is a problem in the distribution of income. This is the liberal position. The conservative position is that the economy has been underperforming, growing at a slow rate, with many in the middle class losing purchasing power, and many losing faith in their ability to improve their lives.

Right out of the gate - first presumption was the improved economy for the last 6 years when posing the first question to Trump.

Just outrageous setup to try and prevent whatever Trump had for facts and figures on the actual economy.

A thread on FR last night seemed to conclude that the reason we are being told that incomes are up is that they are now “counting” income differently. IIRC (and I don’t remember much of the details), it said that, in the past, the income figure was based on salary net of deferred income such as 401(k) and IRA contributions, plus taxable distributions from pensions, 401(k)s, IRAs, etc. It sounded like this was changed recently, so that the money going into tax-deferred retirement accounts is now being counted BOTH when it is earned (but not yet taxable) AND when it is withdrawn as income, taxable.

Lowest growth rate since the Great Depression being described as best long term growth?

Anything for the powerful establishment globalist. What are facts good for?

As a business owner we have been stagnant in giving raises for about 10 years. Very minimal increase. Big profit margin compression and more gov regulation.

Did America Get a Raise in 2015?

*******************

I must not be American, ‘cause, I didn’t get one.

2014, 2013,2012, 2011, 2010, either.

Unless incomes suddenly grow enough to cover 30 years of inflation, they aren’t actually growing at all, they’re merely shrinking at a slightly lower rate.

More weaponization of the government to use against the people - lying to the public with supposedly official figures to bolster the party in power and its leader, Obama - depends on what analysis you read, but it seems to boil down to the fact that actual wages increased only about 1%, with the remainder of the supposed 5.2% increase in “income” coming from things like withdrawals from retirement accounts, money from student loans, and dividends and capital gain distributions from the overly inflated stock market caused by artificially low interest rates......

The only “raise” that this American got in 2015 was when I sat on my cat.

I think this is the year that the Fedgov is considering any contribution CV to your health insurance as taxable income.

Goes into the thickets to explain how the gubmit numbers got manufactured.

There must be a way to sue these elected criminals under the RICO statutes.

Fraud and abuse and "taking without due process" under the color of authority.

Taxing the same income several times is fraud and/or extortion, pure and simple.
