Salena Zito: Hillary Bringing Out Big Guns to Secure Black Vote

Democrats have placed their focus on bringing in top surrogates to Pennsylvania's colleges and black neighborhoods in an effort to motivate these key demographics to show up to vote for Hillary Clinton in the same numbers they supported Barack Obama.

"Clinton so far has shown she is lagging in inspiring these voters – that is why you see (first lady) Michelle Obama at two universities in Pennsylvania Wednesday, Hillary herself in a black neighborhood and with plenty of plans for both [President Barack] Obama and Bill Clinton to do the same thing," said Terry Madonna, political science professor at Franklin and Marshall College.

"It's a bit alarming, but we still have a few weeks to go, ask me a week before."

Clinton faces a similar potential problem with millennial voters, Madonna said.

"Right now about 20 percent of them that voted for Obama are leaning towards Libertarian Gary Johnson or Jill Stein of the Green Party," he said.

"They were the voters who loved Bernie Sanders and do not connect with her inside the Beltway reputation," said Madonna.

Clinton is holding on to just under a 2-point lead if you look at the averages of recent Pennsylvania state polls, and "that is down a remarkable 10 points from the beginning of September," Madonna said.

Hillary should have this voting demographic in the bag by now. That fact that she doesn’t proves how much trouble she is in.

Many state polls have as much as 20% of blacks supporting Trump. That is twice the regular percentage. Similar trends are occuring with the hispanic vote. If these trends continue, it will be awful for the dems on election day.

Hillary is in trouble.

Hillary still has problems with black voters and it’s almost October. I don’t think black voters are all that interested in a non-black candidate even with a D by their name. After eight years of Obama they’re not gonna easily switch their allegiance to a rich white liberal especially in this racially charged climate.

Desperation in Hillary's Camp.

At this point she should be trying to steel Trump's voters but she has already alienated them by calling them "Deplorables". Thus she is left with trying to scour up more from her base using Black Lives Matter and the pandering to women.

But she has alienated lots of women by allowing rapists in the womens/girls bathrooms.

Poor Hillary, I "feel" her "pain".

Not to mention how poorly they have done under the Obama administration.

If you have to get your base to vote, you are in big trouble!

Sounds like Hillary is spending her time maintaining the best/most reliable voting bloc for her party. If she is doing this, she isn’t doing other things. You only have so much money, time and focus. And there aren’t many weeks left in the campaign. I can’t wait to see the numbers and examine how this election turns out to be the same or different from years past.

I am so weary of the constant catering to blacks-——for everything, not just votes.

When did this group of people become more important than the rest of us?
