NAACP calls for independent investigation into Tyre King shooting [NAACP defends armed robber]
Columbus Dispatch ^ | September 24, 2016 | Michael Huson

The NAACP is asking the U.S. Department of Justice to begin an independent investigation into officer-involved shootings by the Columbus Division of Police.

A letter sent this week to the Justice Department follows the death of 13-year-old Tyre King, who was shot and killed by Officer Bryan Mason Sept. 14 after police say King robbed a man at gunpoint, then pulled the gun from the waistband of his pants as Mason chased him. The gun later was determined to be a BB gun.

King’s death is highlighted in the letter from the NAACP, along with other Columbus police officer-involved shootings. It's signed by Nana Watson, president of the Columbus branch of the NAACP, and Byron L. Potts, chairman of the organization's legal redress committee.

“Columbus needs a thorough investigation by an independent entity, one with the authority to investigate the long history and standard operating procedures of the Columbus, Ohio, law-enforcement agencies regarding the ‘shoot first approach’ mentality,” the letter reads. The unwillingness of the Franklin County prosecutor’s office to conduct, charge and prosecute law-enforcement officers is another basis for there to be an independent agency investigation done by the Department of Justice,” it says.

The letter states that an independent investigation by the Department of Justice also is needed to restore the community’s confidence in the capital city’s justice system and law-enforcement agencies. This is because, the letter states, of an apparent disparity in the number of African-Americans shot by police and a conflict of interest that exists between Columbus police and the Franklin County prosecutor’s office when investigating and prosecuting those incidents.

Tyre King is not the name of an auto parts store in England.

About 40 years ago, maybe more, I was a proud member of the NAACP. They have changed dramatically since then, and sold out to racist, socialist policies. I have zero use for them now, would never be a member or encourage any of my family to join either. The NAACP has just about merged with Black Lives Matter, and/or Louis Farrakhan. They now represent a dangerous influence on black society, fostering career Victimhood.

Kinda tells you something about what they think of black people.

Hint hint: a skillful Conservative could make use of this proclivity.

Confrontations; that is, defiance, fighting, non-cooperation, flight, et al during encounters with police greatly increase the likelihood of unpleasant consequences. The more frequent the confrontations, the more frequent the bad results. People who defy the law face the police more often than others so the chance of a bad end increases for them. That is the elephant in the room. Except in the rarest of cases, it has absolutely nothing to do with the race of the shootee. Whites who behave in a similar fashion are every bit as likely (even more likely because they do not have a group agitating for them) to be shot as any other race. The complaints regarding police shooting of blacks will never end because they are based on a false premise and not the root cause.

DoJ is totally out of control and rogue.

Something demonic going on when:

1) The "truth is regarded as a revolutionary act" by an Outlaw Media and Gummint working collusively.

2) Lying, stealing, corruption, and treason in the highest places are acceptable and permitted with impunity by the DoJ, DHS, Congress itself, and almost every feral alphabet agency.

3) Criminals, traitors and purveyors of Obstruction of Justice are given immunity instead of Indictments, making a mockery of justice.

4) It has become verboten to publicly report and cite black violence and Muzzie murders as a matter of truth and official policy by both Gummint AND Media, lest one themselves be indicted for slander, bigotry, or hatred.

5) Routine criminality, violence, rape, and pillaging is being sanctioned by this Regime and its LE-in-reverse.

6) Local and State LE are being intimidated and bullied by outlaw feral gummit and alphabet agencies to IGNORE the standing law, but illegally enforce laws selectively as a matter of political censorship.

7) The scapegoating of all the self-inflicted wounds and damage to ALL America are perpetrated by the Democrat/Marxist constituencies are by default the responsibility of all Republican/Conservative constituencies (according to Democrat-owned Left-Wing Media, Academia, and Hollywood.)

Or require an equal number of cops die each year as black males.

Boy, will that help in recruitment...

If I was a sheriff, I would start deputizing law abiding citizens in anticipation of the full time officers walking off the job at some point.

This BLM BS is so far out of control...well, I will just leave the rest up to each reader’s imagination on how it should be resolved.

The only thing the NAACP wants to hear is that the shooter committed felonious murder, not any thing else.

Why wait? A sheriff can protect the people who live in his county (in many but not all counties) by “going full Kennesaw”, and announcing that all “adult citizens of good character” in the county should arm themselves (without fear of prosecution if they do not), and to “assist the uniformed police and deputies in maintaining law and order, as may be needed to uphold the law.”

While this does not convey any special authority to the adult citizens, it does clearly remind everyone that the armed citizenry *are* the police, and that uniformed police are there to assist the citizenry in keeping the peace.

an apparent disparity in the number of African-Americans shot by police

Yes, there is a disparity. Nationwide blacks account for 24% of those shot by police, while accounting for over 50% of the arrests for murder or robbery. Clearly, cops are trying very hard not to shoot black suspects.

More specifically, a black armed robber.

They have parties when cops shoot white people.
