I count TEN times he was told “drop the gun” or words to that effect. TEN times!!!!!

Talk about plenty of warnings......

“She lied repeatedly to the officers that he had no weapon, he had no gun.

All the while the cops were yelling at him over and over and over again to “drop the gun.””

The wife repeats over and over to her husband “don’t you do it”, “don’t you do it”. Don’t you do what, I ask? Don’t use the gun on the cops? What else would she be saying “don’t you do it” about, if is not telling him to not use his gun? I ask you.

This is the second police shooting video that was narrated by a witness that has a different narrative than that provided by the police.

The first one was the guy who got shot in his car with his girlfriend filming it somewhere up north. Guy got pulled for being a suspect in a robbery.

It’s like the people filming are setting up a false story on purpose.

She seemed so calm. If my husband was shot I don’t think that I could be so calm. I don’t think that anyone would be able to keep me away from his body either. I would not let him spend his last moments on this earth like that. I just don’t understand this at all.

Or she was yelling for Keith not to get out of the car with the gun in his hand

Exactly. I would have been pleading with the cops not to shoot, not commanding.

If you go frame-by-frame there is a still frame at 1:07 which shows Scott standing up, back to the camera. His left arm is straight down by his side but his right arm is crooked at the elbow and his hand appears to be grabbing something in his waistband. Right after that there is a barrage of shots.

You have to slowly go frame by frame to find that one still.

Mama knew she won a big lottery prize when the mayor immediately called to console her and the family. (I wonder if the mayor gave the family names of some good lawyers? After all, it’s only tax payers money.)

Correction, the black cop was putting on black gloves and dropped one of the gloves.

...Gun can go up in less than a second and he was clearly warned. Looks like a good shooting.

Under such conditions a defender (here a police officer) cannot respond in time before the gun comes up and shot goes off.

Someone is going to get shot.

In fact, it appears the black cop was struggling to putting on black gloves and just dropped both gloves to his left.

After watching the vid....wife lied about gun, then yells at him repeatedly not to do it all while cops are yelling drop the gun repeatedly. When one lawfully obeys a cop’s directions they have no reason to shoot. Sounds like he might have been behind the wheel of a car while impaired or looking to commit suicide by cop. Either way it’s a lawful action by the cops. Cops deserve to go home healthy at the end of their shifts. Wife was cussing and at no time said he was holding a book or reading a book.....RME. They all lie. #BlueLivesMatter

You think that was a glove and not a gun?

Yep, it was a pair of black gloves he was struggling to put on and then apparently just dropped them during the stress of the moment.

This is what I know:

I wasn’t there. No one here was there. The only people there were the cops, the dead guy, and his wife. And only a select few of those people know for sure what happened in that moment.

Anyone here commenting on what *really* happened based on this video or what’s being said on teevee is full of s**t.

Having said that...

I spent a number of years in the military, part of which was forward deployed in what was for us a combat area even though the US was not actually at war at the time.

For this mission, part of which was waterborne “policing” - our training and our actions were governed by very specific rules of engagement that defined when we could and could not engage. Specifically, the mere sighting of a weapon was not a valid reason to engage. Even if they raised that weapon in a threatening manner, we were still not allowed to engage without permission. The only time we were allowed to engage is if we were ourselves engaged - and that meant being fired upon or otherwise attacked.

It sticks in my craw a bit that police officers aren’t held to the same standards. Screaming “gun” and opening fire - or repeatedly screaming “put down the gun” and then opening fire and claiming you were threatened is not a valid ROE. And shooting someone just because you *think* they have a weapon is really only a valid ROE if you’re actually at war. So if you advocate the latter, what you’re saying is that law enforcement is in a state of war with the citizens...

Police officers should be held to the same standards of ROE as the military - or stricter. Does that mean you might die if you’re a cop? Yep - welcome to the party pal. If you don’t like the gig, go do something else.

LEOs should not be allowed to simply shoot someone because they *feel* threatened. That right is reserved for untrained “normal” citizens - not military and law-enforcement who are supposed to be “trained” to deal with these situations. If you decide to “serve” as a police officer, you’re giving up part of your right as a citizen to simply shoot when you feel threatened - you give it up in exchange for a badge and training.

I’m in no way anti-cop - but the reality is that in the eyes of the law, a cop’s life is supposed to be worth *exactly* the same as a non-cop’s life. That’s what they meant when they wrote that “all men are created equal” - all are equal before the law.

It’s not true anymore - for pretty much any .gov employee - and it bothers me - a lot. And it’s causing lots of issues in this country that many - on both sides - are blinded to by their prejudices.

Is the BLM response warranted? Of course not. But that’s what happens when people start feeling like they’re getting squashed. Reality doesn’t enter into the equation. They just lash out mindlessly - turning the fire under the kettle hotter and eventually the pot boils over and everyone gets burned.
