Statement: Donald Trump Opposes Ceding Internet Control To Foreign Powers…
THE CONSERVATIVE TREEHOUSE ^ | 21 SEPTEMBER 2016 | SUNDANCE

Posted on 09/21/2016 3:43:33 PM PDT by Extremely Extreme Extremist

“Donald J. Trump is committed to preserving Internet freedom for the American people and citizens all over the world. The U.S. should not turn control of the Internet over to the United Nations and the international community. President Obama intends to do so on his own authority – just 10 days from now, on October 1st, unless Congress acts quickly to stop him.

The Republicans in Congress are admirably leading a fight to save the Internet this week, and need all the help the American people can give them to be successful. Hillary Clinton’s Democrats are refusing to protect the American people by not protecting the Internet.

He should publicize this, and work it hard. Although many millenials may split on the vote, they are united in their addiction to the Internet.

I’m so glad he finally weighed in on this important issue.

I hope it's not too late. This is one of the most important issues concerning free speech and the future of the internet. I wish he would have been talking about this much sooner.

I hope this comes up during the debates so Hillary will have to publicly defend Obama giving away control of the internet to those who are not bound by the first amendment and have no regard for freedom of speech.

If the UN goes ANY FURTHER with taking control of the Internet, and/or with forcing ANY country to take jihad migrants as “refugees”—the US should withdraw from the UN, STOP funding it, and kick it out of those buildings in NYC!!!!

Keep the Internet free!!!!

muslims get out and keep out!!!!

Trump also needs to slam home that Obama is doing this so the internet can conveniently be censored for the last month of the election, and he gets to throw up his hands and say: "The U.N. is in control of that, not me, and they're just shutting down anti-muslim hate sites!"

Meanwhile, they get to control the message and stop private videos of Illary collapsing from going viral.

As a practical matter nobody “owns” the Internet. The only centralization is at the root DNS nameservers. These suffer ICANN only by the grace of their respective independent owners scattered across the globe. There is nothing to prevent them or anyone else from bolting and setting up their own alternate root DNS with new TLDs.

All you need to do is point your computer at an alternate name server. On Windows Server, replace the file C:\Windows\System32\DNS\CACHE.DNS. On a Linux server, replace the file /etc/named.conf.

That’s it.

The pirates and hackers are already using alternate DNS roots to evade the censors. If the UN or the ITU go too far and use the root zone to enforce heavy handed censorship, there will be a worldwide revolt in a matter of months, like when the 90% of Internet sites quickly shifted from HTTP to HTTPS when the NSA’s snooping was revealed. That shift was a major hassle and expense for millions of web sites, but it shows how quickly the Internet can adapt.

The effort it would take to swap the root zone file in DNS servers is trivial in comparison. (Old zones would remain for access to existing sites, and new ones will appear with new TLDs served by the new alt roots.)

Donald Trump Opposes Ceding Internet Control To Foreign Powers…

Of course he does. As he should. As all reasonable people should. If it ain't broke don't fix it. There is nothing to be gained ceding control to technocrats from other countries and most especially from countries with repressive regimes, repressive social policies, and countries lacking a transparent enumeration of human rights, independent courts, rights of appeal and so on. I do not understand this Obama/Hillary race to give everything away, and moreover why anybody supports their doing it.

Trump is right. People need to stop and think and then they will realize that the US only has a future, if Trump is elected president.
