Breitbart should know better than to publish revisionism.

Les Miserables is a wonderful romantic piece of fiction, but it is fiction.

Hugo was celebrating radical socialists, heirs to the Jacobins. By the time of 1832, France had a legitimate constitutional monarchy.

The same left-wing agitators would be responsible for the revolutions of 1848, and ultimately the Paris Commune, an embryonic proto-communist government.

Let’s not get carried away.

So what?

History doesn’t have to repeat or even rhyme. It just has to scan.

Oppressed masses this time are the formerly ascendant. So maybe it’s a reclamation instead of a revolution? No matter: a diverse majority is turning against the establishment. Good enough for a start.
