But they (most of them) need to marry, have good sexual relations, and have and raise kids. This is the normal, natural, and healthy way for people to lie their sexuality, except for the relatively few who have a vocation to consecrated virginity (Buddhist monks and nuns?) The disintegration of a marriage culture will end them as a nation.

Buddha was Sidhartha Gautama, an Indian, 6th-4th century B.C. The Indians REFUSED to have an alphabet because they believed that it would DEFILE their sacred Vedda. They finally caved around the first century A.D.
SO all the ancient history of India is pretty much speculation. They aren't even sure of when and where Sidhartha was born though he WAS Indian, not Oriental Asian.
He is the "enlightened" one, not God. Many Indians INSISTED on deifying him and he resisted it to the end. Why Buddhism spread to Japan is a mystery to me.

Japan has no specific GOD because RELIGION is supposed to be GOD-centered, NOT ancestor or nature centered worship.
Worshiping Buddha is worshiping a MAN, a simple man who RAILED at being deified by his native people: Indians.

Buddhism spread to Japan by way of Chinese and Korean missionaries. At one time in Japan Chinese culture was considered the type of culture to emulate and adopt. Along with Chinese teachers, in time came Chinese religion, buddhism being increasingly part of Chinse culture during the early decades of the second millennium.

China does win the "contest" of being the FILTHIEST place on earth. And, we were on a tour so only were allowed to see "their best."
I can remember one hotel we stayed at. It was so dirty that I slept ON TOP of the bed with all my clothes on, including my tennis shoes...after I brushed away the strand of long black hair on the pillow...and put one of my beach towels on the pillow. I used the other under me. I used a jacket as a blanet.
My husband had to shoo away the THOUSANDS of cockroaches in the bathroom while I used the toilet.
We asked for some ice, as there was no A.C., and we were brought ONE ice cube on a saucer...and it was fast melting.
One can only imagine, and SHUDDER, at the filth and squalor that was China in OTHER parts of the country.
My husband had the first generation of video cameras, and thus the BEST, and VERY big, and the Chinese had never seen these cameras. Our film was FILLED with Chinese faces.
I read that it's "much better" now...but that would only mean the places that tourists see. I am still APPALLED at their gall in thinking that they are such hot stuff.

Our last night there we went to the "Great Hall" for dinner, along with thousands (it seemed) of others. We were all seated around the normal "table for ten."
There were four ENORMOUS jade works of art on each of the four walls and ONE gigantic carpet.
