The Republican governor of Maine told Breitbart News that he is confident that GOP nominee for president Donald J. Trump wins at least three of the state’s four electoral votes.
“I said about three weeks ago, it’s not one point in play anymore, it is at least three,” said Gov. Paul R. LePage, who was referring to how like Nebraska, Maine allows its congressional districts to award their electoral votes separately. In the case of Maine, two electoral votes go to the statewide winner and then one vote goes to the winner of each its two districts.

This indicates that there must be internal polling at the NRCC showing Hillary is very unpopular in Maine.
I don’t see how 2EVs from Maine would help.

Magic number is 270. If it ends up 269 to 269, then any scenario could come out of the circus that would result.
Two Trump faithless electors vote for Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio. The Republican House has to choose between the top three electoral vote getters, Trump, Hillary or Ryan. Don’t be sure they’d pick Trump.
An even weirder possibility. Hearing what the Republicans are planning, the Democrats get 100 of Hillary’s electors to vote for Evan Bayh and therefore the Republican House has a choice between Trump, Hillary or Bayh.
If no one gets 270 votes, it will be a fun month until the electoral votes are counted and another fun month until the House meets to choose the new President.
