This Monday, the first-ever UN summit on refugees and migrants is set to agree on an international response to the largest displacement crisis since World War II.
Some 65 million people are on the move worldwide, fleeing wars such as the carnage in Syria, as well as repression and poverty. In total, 21 million refugees are competing for too few resettlement opportunities.
At the summit, the UN's 193 member countries are expected to adopt a political declaration that human rights groups have already said falls far short of breaking new ground to ease the refugee crisis.
The following day, Obama is scheduled to host a second summit at which some 40 countries will make new offers of aid, either by taking in more refugees or supporting access to education and jobs.
"We are not going to solve the refugee crisis on Tuesday, but I think you will see an important view of political will from leaders around the world," US Ambassador Samantha Power said.
At issue is sharing the burden from the huge refugee flow.
Only eight countries currently host more than half the world's refugees: Turkey, Pakistan, Lebanon, Iran, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya and Uganda.
Six of the world's richest countries - the United States, China, Japan, Britain, Germany and France - hosted only 1.8 million refugees last year, just 7 percent of the world total, according to research by the British charity Oxfam.

Refugees? I doubt that most of then are. Most are economic migrants. How many come to leech and how many come to work, I don’t know. But we have no obligation to open our door to them.
So the cesspool countries run by tyrants legitimized by this ridiculous commie organization have no responsibility? There is not one single thing that is good to have ever come from that den of vipers.

For starters every ambassador should agree to take in ten refugees in their house.

According to figures I saw yesterday (where, oh where was that?), the US has more refugees than any other nation. I wonder what the truth is? Of course if they are coming across the border, how would we ever know?
Yes, exactly. And let’s get rid of diplomatic immunity so that when the welcome wears off and the social mischief begins, the culprits don’t go scot free.
I think a great number of laws would be changed if the law makers were made to abide by their own laws. For example, in the case of rape where the law maker helped make laws stating no abortion for any reason, the lawmaker should have a uterine implant with rape baby inside, be forced to carry for the requisite remaining months, breast feed and then raise the child (who did not ask for any of this) as wonderfully as the lawmaker has raised the rest of his/her kids. I mean it is only fair, right?
We must keep pressure on Trump to exit the UN (and kick them off our land) and become a sovereign nation once again.
Our land, our laws. Period.
