The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 (The McCarran-Walter Act)
US Office of The Historian ^ | 1952 | McCarran–Walter Act,

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 upheld the national origins quota system established by the Immigration Act of 1924, reinforcing this controversial system of immigrant selection.

[snip]There were other positive changes to the implementation of immigration policy in the 1952 Act. One was the creation of a system of preferences which served to help American consuls abroad prioritize visa applicants in countries with heavily oversubscribed quotas. Under the preference system, individuals with special skills or families already resident in the United States received precedence, a policy still in use today. Moreover, the Act gave non-quota status to alien husbands of American citizens (wives had been entering outside of the quota system for several years by 1952) and created a labor certification system, designed to prevent new immigrants from becoming unwanted competition for American laborers.

President Truman was concerned about the decisions to maintain the national origins quota system and to establish racially constructed quotas for Asian nations. He thought the new law was discriminatory, and he vetoed it, but the law had enough support in Congress to pass over his veto.

Donald Trump was/is correct again. Our law makers know very little of existing laws...do you suppose this one being Politically Incorrect has been kept in the dark? When Trump brought up the visa suspension until we knew who was here, brought on such an uproar from the crippled Politically Correct in our government and tried to make Trump look like an idiot. Hope they like crow.......

“[O]nly the useless in the reconstruction of their countries are seeking to come to the United States ... the immigration of recent years has been from that class of people which arrests rather than aids, the development of any nation”

Lillian Russell in her report to the President of the United States, 1922

Some things never change.

Our law makers know very little of existing laws

Either that or they rely on the ignorance of the populace to fool them into thinking they are correct and Donald Trump is an American idiot.

Donald Trump is no idiot.

A segment of the US voting population is, unfortunately. For proof, refer to the election of BH Obama not once but twice.

Donald Trump is no idiot.

One only has to look at the fact that he beat seasoned professional politicians at their own game to know that is not the case. Only an idiot would think he was lucky in that feat.

Unfortunately the evidence to confirm the numbers of idiots in this country growing by leaps and bounds, are all too plentiful. Even more amazing is the fact that many of them have extremely good educations as well. I refer to them as the brainwashed idiots.

The co-sponsors of this law were also Red spy hunters. Sen. Pat McCarran (D-Nev.) chaired the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee in the early 1950’s, and Rep. Francis Walter (D-Pa.) ran the House committee on Un-American Activities in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.

The law is old enough it is elgible for social security next year...and its been established law for 64 years and used by other Presidents including Ike and Carter....so Trump can keep anybody he wants out of USA that is a security threat
Truman vetoed it...and a heavily weighted Democratic congress over rode his veto...
that could be brought out too since they dont teach history of USA in schools anymore

"... co-sponsors of this law were also Red spy hunters"

My sainted father and his friends were all anti-communists, all were true Americans who upheld the Constitution....as was said "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened----

Norman Thomas, six-time Socialist Party presidential candidate and one of the founders of the ACLU.

Senator Joseph McCarthy hunted for Communists when America cared about the overthrow of their government. Why do you think CAIR is allowed here? Political Correctness...we know what that organization is up to...but our government is hog-tied with PC....Red spy hunters etc. were the Keep America Free of their day....we need some of that today.

(The Origins of Political Correctness) do read that.
