From Ivanka: Political reporters love to speculate about my role in my father’s campaign. By various accounts, I’m a pundit, a surrogate, a top strategist and a potential running mate (that one was interesting!).

The real answer is actually the simplest: I am a loving daughter who was raised by my parents to hold strong convictions and to pursue solutions to problems. In my life, I’ve worked hard to do exactly that.

We each have diverse political views and neither my site nor my company is, or ever will be, politically inclined. Over the course of the last year, my team has remained laser-focused on our mission of inspiring and empowering women who work—regardless of party affiliation.

On a personal level, my father’s campaign has afforded me an unprecedented opportunity and a heightened platform to advocate for change relating to issues that are of critical importance to me—and to all women.

It is important that we come together to advance the dialogue around the issues facing women and families. We need to begin to act differently; to advocate for change and to implement solutions, whether through the legislature or in the workplace.

Under Trump’s plan to require that private companies to provide six weeks of paid maternity leave, what will be the penalty to companies that violate that federal mandate?

The main thing is the tax credit for stay at home mom’s . This is the most wonderful concept. We reward the MOTHER again!!YES!! We need millions more children not murdered before they are born.

Which is worse, that or Hillary’s plan to import ten million Mooslims a year and pack the US Supreme Court with Marxist ideologues?

It’s not a federal mandate. Go read his plan. Any company unable to afford the 6 weeks leave, the employee is paid for by offsets thru the gov’t. Go read the plan on the Trump website.

All of it is bad as all of it expands the power of the federal government.

Did you see anything about that in print? I heard it during the speech. My daughter-in-law will be thrilled.

The most important detail along those lines is that the six weeks of maternity leave would be folded into the unemployment insurance that employers are already required to have for their workers.

What do you think that will do to the cost of unemployment insurance?

Thought I would clarify...families with stay-at-home moms get no breaks of any sort from Uncle Sam. Given the importance of their role, I appreciate this as my daughter-in-law would...

As a tax credit, it would be good to get a little larger refund as they, like many families, feel they are being eaten alive by taxes!

By necessity this will lead to a massive increase in income tax for those who aren’t parents of young children.

So poor working class schmoes will get a tax hike in order to give households with incomes up to $500K a big tax break.

That means an increase in unemployment tax rates for employers—which means employers won’t be able to afford as many employees.

Also, that creates an incentive for employers to avoid hiring younger women.

Nope, More in the work force and start up businesses — more revenue. Plus more living children to become taxpayers and fewer illegal aliens to pay for. Just watch.

I predict that it won’t do much, because I think unemployment benefits don’t pay enough to make it worthwhile for most people to take off work for six weeks.
