Huh? General, I can assure you that Americans, and more importantly, Marine recruits themselves do not expect fairness, dignity, or compassion at recruit training. And if that is the standard, then WTF happened with my platoon, 1119? It was the antithesis of fairness, dignity, and compassion.

If you expect a cozy boot camp, here’s what my SDI told us on Formation Day: “We have 12 weeks to undue all the damage your mother has done in 18 years.” And they did.
