If the US government had only given Tesla $5 Billon more in taxpayer money, this would never have happened!

Trees grow slow, cars go fast. The human failed to react in time.

Boer said it was not immediately clear if the driver was using the car's autopilot system. Google gets a lot of grief for their self-driving program, but Tesla has already had one death associated with making their owners beta testers, and they get a complete pass on it.

Why is a driver crashing his/her vehicle into a tree newsworthy?

...
They aren’t getting a pass, and statistically the accident and fatality rate is no higher than regular cars.

Your tax dollars at work. We need to stop subsidizing this nonsense.

The tree was at the corner first and had the right of way.

Tree 1
Tesla 0Inanimate Objects - 4 (or more, I've lost track)
Tesla - 0
Oh, by the way, this shows that it's not only moving inanimate objects the Tesla can't "see", but stationary inanimate objects, as well.

They arent getting a pass, and statistically the accident and fatality rate is no higher than regular cars. Most of what I've read about Google's car crashes is that it was the other driver's fault in just about all of them. Not saying I like Google, or that I'd trust them (software can be hacked, no thanks), just that the Google car was found not to be at fault in most of the crashes to date.
