It would help if the journalists covering this stuff actually tried to be precise in their terminology.

“Classified” is a broad umbrella term used for any and all material which is judged to be “sensitive”.

Within this broad umbrella of “classified” material there are many categories. Top Secret (TS), of course. Secret (S) also. And the category of “Confidential” which is marked with a (C).

Confidential material is considered to be material that would cause damage or be prejudicial to national security if publicly available.

Hillary had a wide variety of “Classified” material on her private server: Top Secret, Secret, Confidential, etc.

Her claim that she did not recognize that the (C) meant “Confidential” is quite ludicrous. Of course, the fact that many people in the public assume that (C) stands for “Classified” doesn’t help.

But the key fact is: she’s obviously lying.
