ITT Educational Services, Inc. to Cease Operations at all ITT Technical Institutes

"It is with profound regret that we must report that ITT Educational Services, Inc. will discontinue academic operations at all of its ITT Technical Institutes permanently after approximately 50 years of continuous service. With what we believe is a complete disregard by the U.S. Department of Education for due process to the company, hundreds of thousands of current students and alumni and more than 8,000 employees will be negatively affected.

The actions of and sanctions from the U.S. Department of Education have forced us to cease operations of the ITT Technical Institutes, and we will not be offering our September quarter. We reached this decision only after having exhausted the exploration of alternatives, including transfer of the schools to a non-profit or public institution.

Effective today, the company has eliminated the positions of the overwhelming majority of our more than 8,000 employees. Our focus and priority with our remaining staff is on helping the tens of thousands of unexpectedly displaced students with their records and future educational options.

Part of the conscious federal effort to continue the dumbing down of America. Trained and skilled people are harder to control!

I’ve been wondering...
What happens when you don’t make a “donation” to the Clinton Foundation?

They’re dependent on the government to pay the students tuition. Community colleges are free. Saves President Trump the honor.

and SJW former students:

“In 2015, a group of students and former students of ITT Tech formed the ITT Tech Warriors to fight for student loan relief. Their goal is “to raise awareness” about the injustices that ITT Tech has committed “...against veterans, students, tax payers and government.” At least 2000 people have joined the student justice group.

Not all community colleges are free...not in California. Students pay for classes, all classes, even the minorities.
The sad part is that minority students (except for the Asians) drop out of classes at an alarming rate.

One can readily see them gather at "their place" at the beginning of any semester. At the first midterm their numbers are halved. After that, dribs and drabs.
Final exams? Their "place" is empty.

The problem is that they are, for the most part, unable to read, write, spell or pass a drug test, that is, unequipped for EVEN the community college level. They only get to the university level in their dreams.

It's a sad waste of state funds. But, what else is new?

Wow! As a small, independent electronics assembly company, we’ve had many employees over the years that were trained there.

No love for 0bama and the bloated DoE but this was the right move, and a long time coming. I have been in the tech field for almost 20 years now and in both of my places of employment in that time, ITT “grads” applications were not even considered. They are a joke in the industry, they inflate grades to make their numbers look good, the courses are senior-league softball tosses.

I’m sure some qualified people came out of ITT here and there, but it was more because they were sharp going in. Good riddance to a fraudulent educational scam.

Most ITT courses (business, criminal justice, health care, etc.) are also offered at community colleges.

Typical annual tuition at a community college: $4,000
Typical annual tuition at ITT: $20,000

Community college credits generally transfer to four-year colleges. ITT credits generally do NOT transfer.

For most students, ITT is not a good option at all. No, strike that. ITT is a horrible option.

This makes me very sad because I know someone affected by this apparent government war against small technical schools.
