The movies you reference were not produced by homowood, were they? I did see God’s not dead and it was very good. The Giver was another diamond. People live by blanket statements and ideas. I understand there are exceptions to the rule and to the trends, but trends are still trends.

YOU are right. I apologize.

I see SO FEW movies in theaters every year because of how left hollywood is.

The comedy about Kim Jong was hysterical though. And a few others. But I’ll wait till they’re free on Prime so there’s no financial damages :)

James Franco pretty much stays apolitical and I like him a lot. But it’s too much of a risk to pay 40 bucks for tickets and candy. I can wait a year :)

You won't regret seeing Ben Hur. I've seen the 1959 version that stared Charleston Heston. I have also read the novel by General Lew Wallace

I have the 50th anniversary edition and watched it a week ago again.

I have no intention to watch a movie with an ridiculous title like Sausage party.

Agreed. I describe Mohammedanism as a cult of hate started by a camel humping pedophile. Mohammed stole parts of Judaism and Christianity to justify his crimes.

I’m 48 and immature for my age so it’s ok :) It’s NOT ok when it’s utterly vulgar and stupid. Lots of people with kids walked out.

Commercial made it seem like foods thought being bought was great and they’d live it up. Then they find out they get eaten. It’s animated and looked funny.

It’s The End of The World was hysterical with Rogen and Franco.

I know many are older on the board and wont go for anything new. Mom’s like that. I respect that.

But I’ll still watch these movies, just on video for free through Prime.

Charlton Heston was GREAT. Hard to top.

Saw that post before I posted back :)

Still gonna watch the movies. Just on Prime.

I find some of the movies made hysterical. Not gonna stop watching them because this one was so vile.

But I’ll end this discussion here because it’s beginning to resemble too much discussions with my 83 year old mother :)

I was just reading the plots of the 1959 and the 2016 versions. Notice the difference

(1959 version)

In AD 26, Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston) is a wealthy prince and merchant in Jerusalem, who lives with his mother, Miriam (Martha Scott); his sister, Tirzah (Cathy O'Donnell); their loyal slave, Simonides (Sam Jaffe) and his daughter, Esther (Haya Harareet). Esther loves Judah but is committed to another. Judah's childhood friend, the Roman citizen Messala (Stephen Boyd), is now a tribune. After several years away from Jerusalem, Messala returns as the new commander of the Roman garrison. Messala believes in the glory of Rome and its imperial power, while Judah is devoted to his faith and the freedom of the Jewish people. This difference causes tension between the friends, and results in their split after Messala issues an ultimatum to Judah.

During the parade for the new governor of Judea, Valerius Gratus, loose tiles fall from the roof of Judah's house. Gratus is thrown from his spooked horse and nearly killed. Although Messala knows this was an accident, he condemns Judah to the galleys and imprisons Miriam and Tirzah. By punishing a known friend and prominent citizen, he hopes to intimidate the Jewish populace. Judah swears to take revenge

The 2016 version

A Jewish nobleman, Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston) and his adoptive Roman brother Messala (Toby Kebbell) are best friends despite their different origins. While racing horses, Ben-Hur is hurt and Messala carries him back to their family home in Jerusalem. Despite the hospitality of Ben Hur's mother Naomi (Ayelet Zurer) and the affections of sister Tirzah (Sofia Black D'Elia), Messala feels alienated in his adopted family. He enlists in the Roman army and fights in the Roman Empire's wars in Germany. Ben-Hur also develops feelings for the family slave Esther (Nazanin Boniadi) although their different station in life compels him not to pursue her. But when her father Simonides (Haluk Bilginer) seeks to marry her off to a Roman, Judah declares his love for her and takes her as his wife.

Three years later, Messala returns as a decorated Roman officer. His return coincides with a rising insurrection by the Zealots, who are opposed to the oppressive nature of Roman rule. Judah treats and shelters a young Zealot youth named Gestas (Moisés Arias). Messala reunites with Ben-Hur and attempts to convince his adoptive brother to serve as an informant. Following a reunion dinner with Ben-Hur and his family, Messala informs them that a new Roman governor Pontius Pilate (Pilou Asbæk) will be taking residence in Jerusalem and that no incidents must occur.

Days later, Pontius Pilate marches into Jerusalem with Ben-Hur and his family watching from a balcony. Gestas attempts to assassinate Pilate with a bow but fails. In retaliation, the Romans storm Ben-Hur's household and arrest him and his family. Rather than betray a fellow Jew, Ben-Hur takes responsibility for the assassination and is sentenced to enslavement aboard a galley. His mother and sister are sentenced to be crucified. Ben-Hur and Messala fall out with the two hating each other for their perceived betrayals. While being led to the galley, Ben-Hur encounters Jesus (Rodrigo Santoro), who fetches him some water.

I went to Ben Hur and it was quite entertaining and didn’t offend my senses.

I learned decades ago, that these movies targeted at 12 year old boys (I have four), are all to destroy virtue formation, normalize perversion and “seeing’ women as objects (and white male Christians (Archie Bunker) as stupid and bigots and which portray the evil and emasculated as “heroes”). Better yet—manly women are stronger than the masculine males (new Star Wars) to normalize the abolition of the family, and pit women against men, as Marx desired for his utopia where children are owned by the State. Maternal and paternal instincts all destroyed in children who embed the Satanism that oozes out of Hollywood.

BTW, you should NOT see the Adam Sandler movie with a mother nursing a 5 year old—just ugly, evil, vile ideas to put into boys’ heads (and girls) to affect their worldview and what is “normal” and “good” and to desacralize sex, motherhood, fatherhood, eliminate mystery and dignity in human beings and esp. the Natural Family.

It makes me sick—what is done to intentionally corrupt and destroy innocence in children and put sex into the subconscious when little so their whole understanding of male/female is corrupted and warped and emotions and desires will be irrational. Power of Hollywood is immense and why something as vile and unnatural and irrational as “homosexuality” is now a virtue and Natural Right from God. Same pederastic Spartan/pagan/muslim ethic where sodomy is always “good”.

Toxic evil cultures destroy moral formation in children and destroy civilizations-—it is what happened with the vulgar, evil Weimar Republic which glorified all perversions in their “Arts” and threw out their Christian heritage. So they were desperate for a savior—Hitler, a pervert himself, but who promised to be tough on homosexuality, etc. although all his Nazis were sexual perverts. It didn’t end well for them. Corrupting our youth will not end well for us either.

The history of Islam is what it is. Murder and mayhem have been their “spiritual calling” from day one until the present. 80 million Indian Hindus and Buddhists got a shortcut to nirvana at their hands for their opening act on the world stage. It has been wash, rinse and repeat ever since.

The new, completely unnecessary remake of Ben Hur stinks on ice!

They changed the original story, which both the original silent movie ( which is AMAZINGLY GOOD! ) and the Heston remake stick to.

It is also PC....casting a black actor in the role of the ARAB/Persian horse breeder, who has Ben Hur drive the chariot with his horses.

The actual race is also cartoonish, with the chariot race being mostly CGI crapola and therefor completely unbelievable.

In this stinker of a movie, Ben Hur and his boyhood pal/arch nemesis, are now "brothers", because supposedly Ben Hur's father adopted Messala, the Roman boy from an extremely weathy, aristocratic family.

In the Jewish religion, this would NEVER ever have happened, NOT EVER; especially not at that time, nor would the Ancient Romans have allowed it!

The acting stinks, the whole movie stinks on ice, and the whole Christian theme is turned inside out and bungled badly! PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A MOVIE MADE SOLEY TO DUPE GOOD CHRISTIANS !

Sorry you saw an even worse movie, but the N.Y. Post didn't like the one you saw, so I don't know what reviews you read. :-(

I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well, but VERY happy that I was able to save you from seeing this stinkeroony of a film. :-)

I have ALWAYS been a BIG movie buff and do try to keep up...even though I seldom see a new movie and haven't been to see a movie, in a movie theatre, since I saw TOPSY TURVY.

We love Woody Allen movies; however, I have found that when the reviewers LOVE one of his films, I wind up HATING it! When they HATE it...I love it! LOL

We have cable, so I wait to see whatever movie I want to see, on T.V.! It's a much better arrangement, since it doesn't cost me more money, I am not surrounded by people talking or texting on their cell phones and/or misbehaving, and, best of all, I can hit pause and get myself something to drink, or eat. :-)

With the exception of two movies ( The original and first remake of THE MALTESE FALCON stank; the third one, with bogey was great; the original movie of GASLIGHT wasn't any good, the Bergman one was GREAT !) ...remakes STINK ON ICE!

With the exception of ONE movie ( the movie made of CHICAGO was superior to the play, which I didn't much care for )...all movies made from plays, also STINK ON ICE.

LOL....and now I want some popcorn, but it's too late.

Yes, we have the original version too. A very moving movie. Another classic we watch most every Easter is “The Robe.” I will watch the new Ben Hur when it reaches Netflix. Sometimes we can find a way to stream new releases when some foreign entity allows it.

Good evaluation of homowood and the goal of family destruction. Sadly, homowood is winning this war against Chritianity and human dignity. They have sided with the devil.
