Was SpaceX rocket hit by a drone? Shock claims Elon Musk’s Falcon 9 was 'attacked'

Now conspiracy theorists are claiming the space rocket was “attacked”.

The “reusable” rocket was destroyed after suffering a catastrophic explosion on launch at Cape Canaveral in Florida, US on Thursday.

The huge blast, which caused no injuries, ripped through the rocket during a pre-launch check – sending plumes of thick black smoke into the air.

Billionaire SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said the cause of the explosion, which was caught on camera, is still unknown.

No. It may be a drone, but...

1. Spacex is well known for filming its own rockets with drones.

2. Any drone that size would be incapable of damaging the rocket in a collision. Yes, rockets have thin skins, but they still have to survive a launch going above the speed of sound in the atmosphere.

3. The "drone" never collides with the rocket. It never "fires" anything at the rocket.

4. The explosion begins at one of the connectors between the tower and rocket. This points to a cause on the tower, not the small object.

Would it be safe to say that the billions transferred to Musk for his electric cars by the government, make this a waste of taxpayers monies?

No. That would not be a fair statement.

Cars and rockets are not quite the same thing.

Rockets are complex and dangerous things. Things go BOOM from time to time. We try to learn what we can, we pick up the pieces and we try again. Luckily the damage was limited and NO LIVES WE LOST.

The “drone”, if you watch frame by frame, was never seen to be passing behind the tower or the rocket. In fact, it looks like a bird, closer in to the camera than the rocket was (it was heavily zoomed). Simple explanation

Tesla repaid the loan 10 years early...

Musk is a force of nature - I would not bet against him.

You may want to find out his real story by reading his biography. Fascinating man with a relentless will to power.

Would be interesting if true, but this isn’t their first explosion. At the end of the day, he can afford the loss and will continue forward, hopefully figuring out the problem before blowing up a few more rockets. At least he’s trying, which is more than one can say for NASA.

...

Some people think it’s safe to make up all sorts of fiction when it comes to Musk, his electric cars and the government.

Small object (whatever) was too far when Falcon 9 ignited. Mr CEO-CTO trying to make excuses, how many more SpaceX rockets will explode on launch pad?

Yes, it was the film Contact staring Jodie Foster. Plot was eerily similar to the conspiracy theory posed here. Billionaire finances private space project only to have it explode on the launch pad at the hands of a saboteur.

Obviously the bird was carrying a bomb and sent by Isis.
