GUN OWNERS’ ACTION LEAGUE (GOAL) FILES FOIA REQUEST FOR DOCUMENTS RELATED TO ATTORNEY GENERAL HEALEY’S NEW INTERPRETATION OF MASSACHUSETTS GUN LAWS

Northborough, Massachusetts – September 2, 2016 – GOAL seeks all public records pertaining to Healey’s politically motivated attack on law abiding gun owners.

This morning the Gun Owners’ Action League (GOAL) of Massachusetts announced that they have filed a FOIA request for all public records pertaining to Attorney General Maura Healey’s controversial new interpretation of Massachusetts gun laws she announced announced on July 20, 2016.

“Since 1994 everyone understood the laws and abided by them. The federal government (BATFE), the state government (EOPSS), the manufacturers, the family business retailers and the families that purchased firearms. What is clear to everyone is that the only person who did not understand the law was, in fact, Attorney General Maura Healey,” said Jim Wallace Executive Director of GOAL. “With everyone else on the same page and having a clear understanding of the law, we want all of the information in her possession, which shows everyone else has been wrong for over two decades and she is right. Further, we are asking for information she may have on why this new brand of gun she has invented is a proven public safety threat in the hands of lawful citizens in the Commonwealth. We are confident that the records will show that she is deliberately misinterpreting the law.”

The FOIA requests all public records as defined in 950 C.M.R. 32.03 and includes among other things; all sketches, drawings, statistics, operating instructions, manufacturers pamphlets, warnings, catalogs, correspondence, emails, memoranda, research, telephone notes, calendars, newspaper articles, studies, committee reports, statistics, police reports, audio and/or video news reports and other documents and/or electronic, computer or printed data generated by or obtained from many state and federal agencies and other offices including; the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), Massachusetts State Police or any other federal, state or municipal law enforcement organization or agency, Everytown For Gun Safety, the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, Moms Demand Action, Concerned Citizens Against Gun Violence, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the Democratic National Committee, or other organization promoting firearms restrictions and/or gun control measures, Massachusetts Department of Public Safety, or the public safety committees of the Massachusetts Senate and/or Massachusetts House of Representatives, staff counsel within the office of the Massachusetts Attorney General, the office of any other attorney general of any state or territory of the United States or any attorney, firearms experts or consultants and other individuals.

She is cordially invited to personally head out to confiscate firearms herself, alone and unescorted to show how serious she is.

What the idiot doesn’t understand is that the AR-15 fires the same way and same caliber as the Mini 14.

So, the 14 is legal, but the AR isn’t.
Brilliant!

GOAL thinks, and I agree, that this is just a step for banning ALL semi-auto guns in the state.

Mark Levin, for all his faults (and there are MANY) did coin two phrases.

In 2008, he called this "Post-Constitutional America."

And in 2012, he said we 'progressed' past that to "Post-Law America."

I agree. The law was written and passed, and then some AG just makes s*** up. Totally changes the law without any legal action. Just makes it up.

That's what Post-Law America looks like.

A good attorney (I'm sure that Ms. Healey does not qualify for that designation - hey - she's an elected politician), would use that last paragraph to deny the request, saying that it's a burden that a busy AG's office can't reasonably be expected to meet while doing the all important business of the People of Massachusetts.

Sort of legalese for KMA, I don't have to.

...they might figure it out...

I'm sure this little fascist already has it figured out and has planned her next step. She is merely waiting and seeing if she gets away with this one.
