University of Nebraska students restricted by new 'respect' policy [Isaiah 29]

Calling the University of Nebraska Lincoln a place that "values acceptance," the institution kicked off the fall semester with its newly installed chancellor essentially telling new students they should not say or do things that might be offensive or cause people to feel disrespected, calling the stance "nonnegotiable."

"We insist on a culture of respect, and we recognize that words and actions really matter," Chancellor Ronnie Green said during a speech at the new student convocation on Aug. 19.

While suggesting the university values free speech and freedom of expression, Green – who took the helm of UNL this summer – went on to declare:

"We do not tolerate actions of hate and disrespect."

The policy, being called by campus leaders a set of "belief statements" on diversity and inclusion, is also spelled out on its website. Green's comments come as Christianity and conservatism — even support of Donald Trump — is accused of being intolerant, hateful and racist on campuses nationwide.

Green did not define, neither in his speech or the written policy underscoring it, what an action of disrespect might be, leaving it widely open to interpretation. The vague set of beliefs also comes a time when accusations of microaggressions, or unintentional slights some interpret as racist acts, have a vice grip on universities...

The Bible foretells that in the last days prior to the return of Jesus, a time will come when men will be unable to speak truth because of corrupt laws. Similar George Orwell's, "1984", the verses presuppose a day in which the government closely monitors everyone's words looking for offense. Today we call this "political correctness" (PC). Any violation of PC is a "hate crime", for example, verbalizing your disagreement with LGBT lifestyles is hate speech and assault, contending that Islam is not a religion of Peace is now called Islamophobia, hate speech, and assault.

Socialists have dominated the political agenda recently by controlling the language. By claiming that everyone is the victim of some form of micro-aggression (except those who disagree with them of course) the socialist liberals have created a movement that canonizes their agenda. This is the nuclear option for quelling all dissension and forcing all their ideological elements. The Marxist-Leninist concept of democratic centralism involves strict adherence to, and defense of, a communist party's positions in public, while in inner-party debate sessions, the line can be questioned, criticized, and changed if necessary. Welcome to Euro-America 2016...

This snowflake at college thing has gotten so out of control that professors don’t even tell students there is a deadline for assignments. Students can turn in assignments whenever they please.

The state legislature needs to haul the chancellor in before committee and ask him if he ever heard the expression a college is a place for open, frank discussion to new ideas, concepts and the exchange of opinions and then ask him if he ever read the 1st Amendment then let him know his answers and future policies will dictate our funding of your institution.

It was so refreshing to hear Mitch Daniels’ commencement speech at my son’s graduation from Purdue. Daniels specifically stated that students did not have a right to be free from being “offended.” He stated that free discourse of competing opinions was essential to the university environment.

It was refreshing to hear to say the least.

On a more serious note, the administrator says “don’t express your opinion if you can’t do it respectfully”, yet many liberals consider contrary opinions by definition to be an assault on their pure selves, an act of disrespect to disagree with them in any regard.
I had an HR person tell me that when I cited FBI/DOJ crime stats to a diversity lecturer who was off on a rant, that these were HATE FACTS and penalized me for violations of the “diversity, inclusion and respect” policy. A diversity instructor who said all men were sexist, all whites were racist, directly blamed Christians and conservatives for “culture of hate” and black incarceration ... that’s OK by them.

Everything the left does can be summed up in one word:

Hypocrisy.

Of all human failings, it is the one I despise the most. People don’t like having their noses rubbed in their hypocrisy, and that’s why I enjoy doing it so much.

Thank you for referencing that article Jan_Sobieski. As usual, please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Everybody in the university communities needs to consider the following. When the states ratified the 14th Amendment (14A, ratified under very questionable circumstances), they prohibited themselves from abridging rights which the states have amended the Constitution to expressly protect. This is evidenced by Section 1 of 14A.

14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

So be prepared to diplomatically use Section 1 of 14A when low-information university officals use politically correct “rights,” so-called “rights” that the states have not amended the Constitution to expressly protect, to trump constitutionally enumerated rights such as religious expression and speech expressly protected by 1A. Such action by state officials is a blatant violation of Section 1 of 14A imo, such officials possibly not aware that Section 1 exists.

In fact, citizens with religious convictions should note regarding exercising their 14A protections that Acts 22:23-30 shows that Paul claimed his rights as a Roman citizen to save himself from being flogged.

Liberals thus aren’t without morality - they simply have their own. The victimhood hierarchy is modeled off the old tribal model.
The elite of the tribe holds the highest esteem and considered the most moral, workers of the tribe second, slaves and allied tribes in the next outward circle, all strangers and aliens fair game unless of benefit to the tribe.
Islam follows this logic, Muslims having the highest standing over dhimmi, then monotheists who aren’t paying the jizya tax, then everyone else on the bottom.
For liberals, the darker you are, the higher you are on the totem pole and offense to you is an offense held by everyone. Women above men, sexual minorities above normal people.
And you have the same tribalism/religious connection. Moses said here are the rules from God for the Jews, all Jews had to worship the same God on pain of death. Those born into Islam who leave it or convert and leave face a death penalty. Liberals aren’t quite that far in the enforcement of orthodoxy. If you’re a black man who isn’t toeing the religious/political line (being Republican, being anti-abortion), you’re an apostate, denied membership of the tribe and torn apart by the press. That’s how Clarence Thomas can be a Supreme Court Justice and called a traitor to the race. It is how conservative Hispanics and Asians can be told they aren’t really members of that racial identity group.
And whites are forced to choose whether they want to have the outermost “moral” circle by liberals by self-flagellating and apologizing for the supposed privilege of their ancestors or excluded from the moral circle altogether and thus be fair game for assaults by the authoritarian left. It is akin to how the most extreme apologetics for Islam are the Christians who live in Muslim nations or Muslim women upholding Muslim men having sex slaves. The insanity of the left is adopting the dhimmi attitude BEFORE being conquered, not as a modern version of Stockholm syndrome.

So no, it isn’t hypocrisy, it is copying the tribal identity/morality model still seen in Islam today for all of its immorality by liberal secular standards.

Would I be going out on a limb, if I said I figured that only conservative white students have to follow this rule, and all minorities do not?
