Incredible. Not familiar with MAduro.
There’s “democratic socialism” for you
You get to vote out the leaders when you are done starving.
Is this before or after their required forced labor camps?
As I said, the world needs a constant reminder of the evils of socialism. Also very important - Chavez and Maduro are not alien invaders. They were fellow Venezuelans, coming from its Caudillo culture, by-and-large chosen and supported by Venezuelans themselves. Let the people enjoy the fruits of their choices. One thing about Tiananmen Square - it ended any serious talk about marxism in China. Even the Party itself had to switch focus to nationalism, stability and prosperity. China's socialist experiment ended on June 4, 1989. Maybe that's what Venezuela needs to change its culture also.
Does Iran need a Bus driver ?
Follow the voters. A known socialist got a LOT of votes because a lot of voters think they want socialism. They would reject any comparison to VZ because they believe their socialist leaders would do a better job, etc etc, blah blah, woof woof. There are a lot of indoctrinated socialist leaning voters and they are growing every day.
You may be right, given that the opposition there is only marginally less Socialist.
My point was that Maduro may decide to go out in a hail of bullets and blood.
Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Most of these people will turn around and elect another socialist. They still haven’t got the message. Sadly the SJ movement has deep roots in Latin America.
The destruction of economic progress and modern civilization is called nihilism and that is exactly what the environmentalist libtards want by means of socialism.
“Most of these people will turn around and elect another socialist. They still havent got the message. Sadly the SJ movement has deep roots in Latin America.”
Just like in this country lots of people worldwide have been indoctrinated to believing socialism is just and moral. These liberals have an answer for any criticism you would throw at them. This is a serious global problem. We are dinosaurs to these people.
Funny how karma comes back to bite those that shouted “Chavez” for years.
Will they learn from their mistakes?
Doubtful...
Is China any different now? Do they have free elections and free speech?
YES - China IS vastly different now. Their leaders don't talk about Marxism and don't pursue asinine marxist schemes. The have some semblance of rule of law and property rights - far better than Venezuela does now. They are one-party, crony-capitalist statists and central planning technocrats whose goal is to keep the system running, protect their power, but also satisfy citizens material needs - they are NOT revolutionaries and ideologues willing to starve their people as occurred under Mao. In sum, they are not so different from the direction our own progressive-leftists and nanny-state are taking the USA.
Remember - Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch. The goal is constitutionally limited government and rule of law. Democracy is a is a result, not a cause.
CeauÈescu therapy would be ideal, though I would settle for therapy involving tar, feathers and a rail.
So between then and now have made good changes, but still have a ways to go for the freedom we have.
In 30 years, I predict China and USA's government are going to look very similar. And I don't mean that as a compliment to China. If Obama was in power longer, he would probably do it in 10 years.
Agreed with the systemic disease spreading in HS and College around the country, we’re already looking at 2-3 presidential terms to straighten out the damage that POS president has done.
and
Venezuela had its own brand of socialism, known as Chauvismo for Hugo Chavez, the charismatic leader who was elected president in 1998 in a rejection of free-market policies that were encouraged by the United States but failed to deliver on their promise of wider prosperity.
Notice how the LA Times covers for socialism, blaming a drop in commodity prices and Chavez's "own brand of socialism" for the disaster, not socialism in general.
Which is only one of the reasons I haven’t subscribed for over 25 years.
