One hopes that during his visit with Mexican President Enrique Pena Lieto, Donald Trump reminded him of Mexicos hypocrisy on border security and immigration control. Trump should remind those who alternately accuse him of a racist immigration stance and then flip-flopping when he softens it that border security could be achieved simply by adapting Mexicos policies.
In 2014, Breitbart News reported that Mexico deported more illegal aliens than did the United States as part of its strict control of its borders:
From January to December, Mexico deported 107,199 Central Americans immigrants by land, while the U.S. only deported 104,688 illegal immigrants during that time period. Of those deported by land from Mexico, 43,456 are from Honduras, 41, 731 are from Guatemala, 20,988 are from El Salvador and 1,024 are from Nicaragua, information released by the Guatemalan Migration Office to Mexican news outlets reveals.

RECIPROCITY.
And don’t forget that Obama left one of our vets in a prison to rot.
Some of us in Mexico tend to think that this policy of Mexico returning people to Central America is more of a policy that the great USA has put in place, a sort of arm twisting by the northern neighbors, to keep them from being picked up at the Rio Grande or the Arizona desert.
How can I take this seriously when the author uses the word “adapt” when he means “adopt”.
Really embarrassing, careless error.
So that explains the armed guards on Mexico's southern border that's been in place for decades? Mexico turns away illegal immigrants because of USA pressure? That's a new conspiracy I haven't heard. Guess the INS is also providing the weapons that Mexico guards have.
Here’s a link outlining their policy. Oh, if we could only adopt it. This needs to get to Trump.

Adopt, adept, adapt ... they aren’t all the same word ...
We have too much of our own, already.
We should adopt the policy, adapt it to our particular needs, and become adept at enforcing it.
Can not vouch for crossing into any of these countries illegally including USA.....enjoy.
Exactly! Become adept at adopting adaptations ...
You really want to kick mexico in the ball? And end illegals and drug cartels from overrunning the US?
Impose a 20% federal surcharge to ALL wire and bank transfers to locations outside of the US, and declare that only US citizens and legal aliens can with proof, can wire money out of the US.
Also, compel implementation of “know your customer” bank policies on foreign banks doing business with US banks, and disallow foreign banks that refuse to comply.
And finally, hold US banks criminally liable for cases of money laundering, meaning the executives and management all go to prison if found guilty, and their shareholders forfeit all shares and equity in the bank, and may be also held criminally liable.
Exactly. And "Mexican President Enrique Pena Lieto" should be "Mexican President Enrique Pena Lieto" should be "Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto", or "Enrique Peña" for short.
The author's grammar and familiarity with Mexican politics seems to be somewhat wanting.
That is a brilliant synopsis of the differences between the words adopt and adapt and how they relate to the word adept.
AAA+ post!
Imagine getting kicked out of a sh!thole like mexico. Now that’s a Rodney Dangerfield moment.
“Impose a 20% federal surcharge to ALL wire and bank transfers to locations outside of the US, and declare that only US citizens and legal aliens can with proof, can wire money out of the US.”
I agree that we should impose controls on bank transfers. Trump has talked about this.
But 20% on everyone would kill trade and tourism.
We need to do something about the money sent to Mexico and some tax is a good idea.
“How can I take this seriously when the author uses the word adapt when he means adopt.”
I agree.
But pretend the author used the word adopt. The article includes a few very good ideas.
What do you think about the author’s point of adopting some of the Mexican immigration laws in the U.S.
I think it is a good idea. I think it would help to solve some of the problem.
