Tariffs tax the many to support the few. Which few? Politicians decide. It’s equivalent to a dollar devaluation and decrease in living standard.

And it we don’t have the politicians or government of 1790 anymore.

Tariffs properly used level the playing field and promote COMPETITION. Remember that word which is at the heart and soul of a free economy. COMPETITION. You can go ahead and spend American Dollars buying Chinese junk, but some of us prefer MADE IN THE USA.

“Tariffs tax the many to support the few. Which few? Politicians decide.”

That’s true for all taxation.

“It’s equivalent to a dollar devaluation and decrease in living standard.”

No it isn’t. Jobs leaving the US decreases living standards.

“And it we don’t have the politicians or government of 1790 anymore.”

Very True. The high taxes aren’t or can’t be paid, the US is no longer the “land of opportunity”.

I only mentioned it because so many “conservatives” are “freetraders”.

Marx was a “freetrader”, he clearly stated it was a great way to destroy a country’s economy and culture.

He was right.
