Tough-talking former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Brian Mast scored a stunning upset Tuesday in the GOP primary for Florida's "battleground" 18th District.

Mast won the Republican nomination for the open seat by rolling up 38 percent of the vote over five opponents.

The runner-up with 27 percent was Rebecca Negron, Martin County School Board member and wife of incoming State Senate President Joe Negron.

The triumph of Mast, 35 in the district that runs from Fort Pierce to Palm Beach, Fl., was the latest in a string of wins in Republican primary battles for major office this year by first-time candidates who defeated better-funded office-holders who were favored for nomination by the Republican establishment.

Score one for the good guys. Too bad about McCain. Talk about a smelly fart let go in a room that just won’t go away.

Then how do you explain McCain, Rubio and DWS, not to mention Ryan?

Unfortunately most of the rest of Florida succumbed to the GOPe. Our establishment mentality here makes me sick.

“Tough-talking former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Brian Mast scored a stunning upset...”

As a Vet, my fingers and toes are crossed that he IS who he portrays himself to be...not some RINO or a Tammy Duckworth (D, IL) type of Victim Veteran.

Go, Florida!

McCain only received 51% of the vote. Not very good for an incumbent who has been in the Senate for a very long time.

Rubio endorsed Trump and Trump reciprocated. Just as Trump endorsed McCain and Ryan in an attempt to unite the party. I wished for all of them to be defeated, but now we must win the WH and hold the Senate and the House.

Trump endorsed both Rubio and McCain. In other words, with a imk and a nod he gave his blessings.

It’s the “We the People” effect. Trump is riding on it, but he didn’t create it. The GOPe created it through their misfeasance, malfeasance, and nonfeasance in office.

...

Also an incumbent who has enough money and power to destroy anybody who crosses him in Arizona.
