A Jesuit was with my late Pastors group when they met John Paul II. When he was introduced as a Jesuit. JP2 asked “But are you a Catholic”?”
John Paul II was respected by all Christians. Probably the only Pope in my lifetime one can say that about. I heard him deliver the Sunday blessing in St. Peter’s Square a couple years after the assassination attempt. Can’t imagine what it must have been like to meet the man in person.
