At a rally Tuesday night in Everett, Washington, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump referenced the Democratic Party's role in the history of slavery and racial oppression and said he was proud to represent "Abraham Lincoln's Republican Party."
"Nothing makes me more honored and proud than to be the nominee of Abraham Lincoln’s Republican Party," Trump said.
About the Democrats, he said: "It is the Democratic Party that is the party of slavery, the party of Jim Crow, the party of oppression."
"Our party will fight to bring hope to every forgotten stretch of this country. Once again, we will be One American Nation," he also said.

Thank you Mr. Trump. I’m not a huge fan, but I wish more Republicans would say and repeat this over and over and over again. The Democrats are the racist party extraordinaire, and always want to treat people differently based on the color of their skin.
This is exactly the correct approach, and is the truth. The usual Republican approach of being apologetic and letting the democrats define the narrative was destructive.

The democrat party has a lot to answer for. When are they going to disavow their shameful past and apologize for their long history of racism, segregation, slavery - and their preoccupations with race, gender and ethnicity today??
Trump is right - every American should have a shot at the American Dream.
How can anyone of the capability for critical thought not be a fan of a guy who will not varnish the truth? He has broken the glass floor the Dems are using to keep groups down and have been doing so for longer than we fought the war during the days of Lincoln.
Now, I fully expect him to ratchet this up and make it known that in addition to being the party of Jim Crow, the Dems were also the home of the KKK as well. When more and more are starting to listen to him and not the media, he will keep adding to it and then double down to drive it home.

carl rove has done more long term damage to the republican party then any elected official. he traded long term strategy for short term gains in getting bush junior elected and failing to get McCain and Romney elected.
