Norway is planning to build a steel fence at its only border crossing point with Russia, citing the necessity to deter refugees, after thousands for asylum seekers entered the Nordic country through the “Arctic route.”
The new fence will be 200 meters long and 3.5 meters high and will stretch from the Storskog-Borisoglebsk border crossing that will also be equipped with new gates, Reuters reports, citing sources in the Norwegian government.
The construction of the fence will be finished in the coming weeks before winter frosts set in to make it harder for illegal migrants to cross into Norway via the forest. The works have already started as old wooden barriers designed to control reindeer herds have been removed from the border.
"The gate and the fence are responsible measures," Deputy Justice Minister Ove Vanebo told Reuters, defending the move.

The border between Norway and Russia appears to be about 100 miles long. Even if you fenced it all the migrants could detour thru Finland or travel by boat along the coast. In winter you could cross on the ice.
so, now the illegals will just have to go around the border crossing point?
Sounds to me like the way we fenced 25 miles near San Diego and pretended we’d fixed the problem.

Pretty much. They are only worried that people near the crossing will actually see illegal border crossers. Just move ‘em a bit outta view...
Also, build a couple of towers about 150 meters to each side and place one person up there watching with a rifle. About every two hours or so fire off one round while appearing to aim at something. Blanks may be useful here. Just want to scare someone that tries to do an end run around such a short fence.

Hahahahahahahaha! Bring an 11 foot ladder or sprint 2 football fields from the beginning to the end of the wall. Never mind the border is 136 miles and 14 miles of that is water. And it's only a hop, skip and a jump to go through the corner of Finland.
