As a matter of fact the ocean is miraculous cleanser.

We had it wash up on the North Carolina beaches all the time when I was a boy. We'd find tar balls floating in the surf and throw them at each other.

It was common for there to be rags and a jug of Kerosene near the entry to the beach for people to clean the tar off themselves and their kids.

It underscored the state's nickname, the Tar Heel State.

The amount of effort that has gone into that site is simply staggering. Every U-Boat, every commander, every ship sunk (most with pictures), the crews lost on the warships sunk, it’s mind-boggling.

German losses in that war, staggering. At 19 my father was packing an M1 across Germany, Belgium & CZ.
