White privilege is the biggest myth of the modern world.
Most Americans, IMHO, are already living in a post-racist mindset. They are far beyond any of the stereotypical attitudes of earlier times.
We all see this every day, when we walk out our front doors and end up at our jobs, the local convenience store, a sporting event, a subway car, or a restaurant, whether it's down the street or hundreds of miles away.
Americans of all races and origins, in their everyday interactions with each other, amply demonstrate the common decency and egalitarian mindset of the average citizen.
The ripple effect of all this "average American decency" is that it has already almost fully established a post-racist society, and that's a good thing.
The problem is that there are still individuals here and there (in all races) who fail their fellow citizens, and perpetuate outdated, counterproductive, and ultimately un-American prejudices. Those are the individuals who have to change their hearts.
That means ending racial preferences of all kinds under the law. Affirmative Action, for example, has joined the pantheon of Great Wrongs in American history. Government should be color-blind under the Law and Justice.
I'm totally convinced, from my own experiences, that most of America— Black, White, Hispanic, whatever— is ready for a future which is post-racial. A vocal minority is clinging to the past.
All Americans should treat their fellow citizens accordingly, and when we do, the last vestiges of the Old Wrongs will dissolve into the past where they belong.
