How on earth do you accidentally kill three people with a crossbow? I don’t think it can be done.
I guess experience has taught LEOs that being publicly wrong about pretty much anything is a career ender.
That goes double for ascribing motives to a crime before the investigation is complete.
Look at the case of Chief Moose. Even his melanin privilege wasn't enough to save him, although I think it did allow him to retire voluntarily.
