The article states that the reduction is in freshmen students.

** I suspect that a LOT of schools are down in attendance, simply because they are running out of rubes. **

I work at a school in the SEC. We are bursting at the seams. Just enrolled a record level freshman class.

Maybe some are from Missouri.

As stated (correctly) here on FR previously, part of the reason for the racist attacks of BLM on white, Jewish, and Asian students was because of affirmative action. Many black students were admitted who were sub-par academically. In short, they quickly realized they were out of their league and this brought about fear and anger. Affirmative action has a price.

There was a large and very nice catholic college in Springfield, KY that closed at the end of last year. Campbellsville University (in campbellsville) took the remaining 500 or so students. It’s about 25 miles from Springfield.

I think there will be a shakeup in higher education where the ones that teach “hard skills” will increase while the “general degree” mills will lose students.

How does one play football while riding a mule?

MU and the state government brought this on themselves by caving to these thugs. The former football coach Pinkle is also to blame for siding with his thugish football players. Now they are where they belong, worse than Vandy in the SEC and the university has reaped what it sowed. Meanwhile Gov Nixon did nothing to help the situation by telling the university to grow a pair. Too bad.

We were happy that our granddaughter’s list of colleges she is considering did not include the University of Misery.

This could well be an unstoppable downward spiral. That 23% of students they lost? I’d wager a majority of them are the students with the highest moral and academic standards. What will be left in that incoming Freshman class will be too scary to even contemplate having students with values to attend.

Colleges are closing. I expect it will get worse.

Ah, like Burlington College? The one Mrs. Bernie Sanders burdened with unrealistic debt?

Part of a new classification, Hysterically Black Colleges? Mizzou could be the flagship.

Also chaos across all sport programs. Athletic director leaves after a year. FB coach Pinckel “retires” under a cloud of controversy. Basketball coach Snyder leaves with 2 years left on his contract. Women’s Softball coach under investigation. Baseball coach leaves.

These teams have to face SEC rivals next year. Will be kind of like a bye week for the ops.

If you are a Missouri resident you are stuck going to Mizzou if you want to save on tuition.

There are about 70,000 students in state universities not part of the University of Missouri system, or about half of the public university students in the state.

The largest is Missouri State, then there are the directionals - Southern, Western, Southeast, Central, Northwest; add in Truman and the two Black schools.

UofM does appear to have a monopoly on doctoral level degrees. But by the time you get to doctoral level studies, you should be able to get the out of state tuition taken care of as part of your package.

I was referring to the 77% that remained. I apologize for not being more specific.
