Where in the Constitution is the US federal government authorized to establish and maintain parks?

I can’t find it.

I think that all of the Caucasian polar bears in Alaska's parks should be killed. That’ll teach ‘em to “check their privilege”.

Wonder if the Chavez National Park will display this quote by Cesar Chavez

…where we closed them down, they were unable to get strikebreakers, or they’d gotten very few. And then all of a sudden yesterday morning, they brought in 220 wetbacks — these are the illegals — from Mexico. Now, there’s no way to defend against that kind of strikebreaking…

It isn't there. Reddy Teddy Roosevelt imagined it in while taking shots at big business and putting the first real dent in the Constitution.

Shouldn’t they (either Park Service or the journalist reporting this) say ‘diverse NATURE’, instead of ‘diverse cultures’?

Where did the “diverse cultures” come from? You mean Indians, sorry Native Americans?

With the exception of Texas and Hawaii, virtually all of the present-day U.S. west of the crest of the Appalachians was originally federal territory. Congress has the power to dispose of public lands. Congress made the decision to create national parks out of a portion of the federal estate. That is where the first parks came from, and the big western parks constitute most of the national park system today.

In the east, I'm glad we've saved Gettysburg, Antietam, Vicksburg, Chickamauga, etc. YMMV. Every park involves a judgment about what is worth preserving for historic, cultural, recreational, or scenic reasons. You may be opposed to national parks in principle, but of the 1001 places we might choose for Last Stand Hill, that is not one I'd choose to die on.

“...the importance of preserving the diverse cultures...”

Never mind that this has nothing whatsoever to do with the mission of the national park service - it’s destructive to the national interest to celebrate any differences among Americans.

There should be but ONE culture celebrated in this country — the American culture. E Pluribus Unum!

the importance of preserving the diverse cultures

The only culture they should be preserving is the American culture.

The fun part about the Park Service is going to Yellowstone and meeting Red Chinese workers at Old Faithful Lodge, while Mexican construction workers toil outside on building maintenance.

The ONLY people there who were vaguely American were the Rangers themselves, who seemed ecstatic about not having any other Americans working there.

When I asked, “Where’s the American kids doing summer work?” I was met with incredulous stares by them. When I asked the construction crew (allegedly from Denver, but mostly from Oaxaca), the guy got violent, which I thought was hilarious.

The Park Service: just another Bolshevik land theft program.

What the heck does the park service have to do with diverse cultures??? More of our tax dollars down the drain. Please, President Trump, put a stop to this.

Funny - and here I thought they were kept occupied overseeing our national parks.
