I know I’m gonna get hammered downfor saying this - but what the hell was this woman doing in Syria?!
Yeah, yeah, I know it was to help the refugees. That’s incredibly admirable and I hope she’s in heaven for what she did and the suffering she experienced.
But anyone who’d travel to an area that’s experiencing civil war-syle conflict has to know that there’s a really good chance of something bad happening to them. Hell, you don’t even have to be in a Middle Eastern country for something bad to happen.
I have no time for DWB - but they are right in one respect. The woman wasn’t one of their employees. She was accompanying an employee at the time of her kidnapping. There’s only so much DWB could have done to gain her release.

Plenty of folks in the US that could use her help.
She was a tag-along with her boyfriend Omar Alkhani. Obviously her choice of boyfriends was her first mistake.

If she wanted to help out Syrian refugees she could have flown to Germany.
She worked in “Palestine” before this, and had a muslim boyfriend it seems. She was playing with fire.
