I was on vacation in the UK for two weeks before the Brexit vote. I was amazed how little campaigning was going on. An occasional window sign or bumper sticker. Had I not known about it beforehand, might never have noticed them.

Nothing like the 24/7 carpet bombing of campaigning like we have in the US.

Then you have experienced some of the most intense Political campaigning I've ever seen in the UK outside of a general election.
On the ‘Personal’ level it was more hotly debated than any GE ever is.
24/7 coverage would have an adverse effect on the voting turn out, people would become sick of the subject and not bother to vote.

I wouldn’t invest in London after that!

I surely won’t be visiting London as a tourist after that.
