Republican Donald Trump again made a direct appeal to black voters Friday night, urging them to abandon the Democratic Party and give him a chance.
Speaking at a rally in Dimondale, Michigan, an overwhelmingly white suburb outside of Lansing, the GOP nominee argued that Democrats, including his rival Hillary Clinton, have taken advantage of African-American voters and taken their votes for granted.
"Tonight, I'm asking for the vote of every single African-American citizen in this country who wants to see a better future," Trump told the crowd.
"What do you have to lose by trying something new, like Trump?" he asked them. "You're living in your poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58 percent of your youth is unemployed — what the hell do you have to lose?"
He also made a bold prediction: "At the end of four years, I guarantee you that I will get over 95 percent of the African-American vote. I promise you."
Most polls show Trump trailing Clinton significantly among black voters. President Barack Obama won roughly 93 percent of black voters in his re-election campaign in 2012.
But Trump once again accused Clinton of "bigotry," claiming she sees African-Americans "only as votes, not as human beings worthy of a better future,"

Throughout the summer and fall of 1980 not one single national poll showed Reagan with a lead, and almost uniformly they showed a very close race and a slight advantage to Carter.
All of Conventional Wisdom expected a comfortable Carter victory.
Reagan won by 10 points nationally. He won 45 states. He won the Electoral College by a 10-1 margin.

And, I’m astounded AP would allow their Democrat base to even be exposed to the question Trump posited.
It only takes a few percentage points of blacks at the polls to destroy a Democrats edge.
Ill-ary is gonna have to do a whole lot more pandering and promising to keep them all on the plantation.
They are because they think it’s a mistake on Trump part.
But like Trump posited ... what the hell does he have to lose? Blacks are voting 95%+ for Democrats for whatever reason. Trump has NOTHING TO LOSE by trying to reach out to them.
Indeed, at this point what do any of us have to lose?
We have been hosed for a long time, all of us.

Trump would have to have extra tight security, but I’d like for him to have some rallies in black parts of town to deliver this GREAT message! I love the, “What the hell do you have to lose?”

I think the “democrats” are ready to let go of the black vote. They don’t need it anymore. Muzzies and Mexicans are the new black. They’ve got the Muzzies and Mexicans on their plantation now. I was channel surfing just a while ago. They had some bimbo on FNC saying that the crooked, criminal, unsophisticated and sickly Clintoon has a “very good” chance of turning TEXAS blue. That’s what the invasion by Muzzie “refugees” and south of the border illegal alien “immigrants” will do for you.

WTH do you have to lose? For 30 years I have wondered why no one asked this. Had to happen sooner or later.
I've said this a couple of times, but I would like to see him give this speech in Harlem. He is from NYC. Doesn't he go back home every weekend? He could give a speech in Harlem on Friday night or Monday on his way into or out of town. He could also quote from the newspaper article as he did the other day, which praised him for rebuilding NYC.
I don’t think it’s a mistake on Trump’s part to do this. It is authentic and I think it will be successful on election day.
However, the majority of the problems in the black inner-city are cultural (not racist as the left claims) and I don’t believe the culture can be fixed with government programs beyond initiatives to encourage opportunities. If the inner-city community embraced change and worked to make things better it could be successful. If they don’t break out of the mindset that has kept them mired in failure it won’t. At the very least Trump has tapped into something that most in the inner-city see for themselves (even if they won’t admit it out loud) and that is a good start.
This also puts Hillary on the defensive and like most of her life she has NOTHING in her record that she can use as a defense. Outside of going on a few BET television shows, giving a few interviews, and cavorting around with a few liberal elite who claim to be champions for the black community she has done nothing of substance nor has her party.
They do take the AA vote for granted. This attack is true and the left knows it. Expect them to begin the “dog-whistle” campaign against Trump at hysterical levels when the polls start showing they are losing support. If past history is any indicator this attack will be far more hysterical than any we have seen.
What does the gimmedat demographic have to lose?

Reagan asked: “Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?” meaning: The past hasn’t worked. Why stick with a bad situation?
Trump flips it and says: “What do you have to lose?” meaning: Could you possibly be worse off? Why not take a chance on a different future?
All he needs is a small percentage of black votes in the swing states. Considering they don't have Obama to vote for it is a reasonable investment.
