Donald Trump Vows To Win '95 percent' of Black Vote After First Term

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump predicted during a rally Friday night that he will win 95 percent of the African-American vote after his first term in the Oval Office.

In a speech in which he made a plea for votes from the African-American community, Trump told supporters in Dimondale, Mich., that he will become the overwhelming choice of black voters in 2020.

"Look how much African-American communities have suffered under Democratic rule. To those I say the following: What do you have to lose by trying something new like Trump? What do you have to lose?" Trump openly asked.

"I say it again: What do you have to lose? What do you have to lose? You're living in poverty. Your schools are no good. You have no jobs. Fifty-eight percent of your youth is unemployed. What the hell do you have to lose?

Enter your email Signup "At the end of the four years, I guarantee you that I will get over 95 percent of the African-American vote," Trump promised the crowd.

"Because I will produce for the inner cities and I will produce for the African-Americans. And the Democrats will not produce and all they've done is taken advantage of your vote. And once the election is over, they go back to their palaces in Washington and, you know what, they do nothing for you. Remember it. So you have nothing to lose."

Notably, the prediction was not included in his prepared remarks, which were sent out to reporters midway through his speech.

According to current polling, Trump is receiving about 1 percent of the African-American vote to Hillary Clinton's 85 percent. Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson is ahead of Trump too, winning 7 percent.

Republicans have long struggled to win support from African-Americans. In 2008 and 2012, President Obama was the overwhelming winner of the African-American community, with 95 and 93 percent supporting him in 2008 and 2012, respectively.

It's the third time this week Trump has made speeches with overt appeals to African-Americans, following remarks in Milwaukee on Tuesday and Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday.

Get them off the Democrat plantation. A very ambitious idea.

The key is to win the black votes that matter. The conservative blacks who have been shunned by both parties.

Good for Trump!

THIS had needed to be said and done for decades!

I have said 1,000’s of time something similar.

Those folks will always be on the Plantation, kowtowing to them would be counter-productive in the end.

But, there certainly are middle-class and upper-class blacks that want to get away from the Democrats, but up to this point the GOP has given them little reason to do so.

Trump is receiving about 1 percent of the African-American vote

That's more than Jesse Helms got, to judge by the precinct results published in the newspaper.

(I remember the A&T precinct going 1600 to 3.)

Trump only needs 15% of the Black vote to destroy Hillary. She will not get Obama’s 95% or even 93% but maybe if he keeps her to 85%... that equates to millions of votes switched.

Democrats are so dependent on the Black vote they can’t afford to lose even 8-10% of them, it would have a huge political impact.

Folks, this is unprecedented. A total game-changer.

When was the last time Republican presidential or Congressional candidates talked openly about how blacks have fared under the Democrats? Not even Reagan had the guts to talk about this. Directly, not in a "low taxes benefits all" or "enterprise zones" type of talk.

If Trump gets even a quarter of the black vote, Hillary is toast. And note that Trump is not pandering to blacks or being condescending and accepting their premise that everything is whitey's fault and he'll make it better.

There is no way Trump is only getting 1% of the Black vote, NO way Hillary does better then Obama’s 93% or 95%.

And the black vote probably won’t turn out for cracker Hillary like they did for Obama.

It's not kowtowing. Did you listen to Trump's speech in West Bend WI? He succinctly pointed out how Democrats have destroyed the black communities.

If you listen to Andrew Wilkow, he goes further. He connects how corrupt city councilmen and aldermen aren't doing anything for their residents. Meanwhile, they live in suburban, affluent neighborhoods and their kids go to the best schools. While black kids attend crappy schools.

You are correct, whenever the day comes that the democratic hold of the Blacks breaks wide open, it will be the age of a new political era in America.

-- And note that Trump is not pandering to blacks or being condescending and accepting their premise that everything is whitey's fault and he'll make it better. --

The critics of Trump's appeal for a chance from the ghetto dwellers essentially say it is a losing appeal because he is not pandering to their :oppression framework" (my choice of phrase, not a quote).

Of course the grievance industry is opposed to Trump, as is the uniparty approach, wich aims to keep the populace down, to benefit the controlling class.

If noting else, this will get them talking amongst themselve. Seriously, what do they have to lose? Roll them bones.

dfwgator was referring to certain elements of the black community, and was not saying that Trump was kowtowing or making some error in his appeal.
