via Governor Palin’s Facebook page:

Good for Trump; the WIMPY thing for a boss to do is NOT can someone when it just isn't working out. It's all about accountability

Hmmm is right. Wouldn’t surprise me if “they” talk regularly. She gets the weasels, and could be a great asset to get her feedback on the players....

Has Palin been calling for Manafort’s removal in days past?

Manafort is no prize, IMO. He’s a B grade beltway lobbyist who hasn’t been top tier guy in decades.

If Palin said this, it is not helpful to Trump, if it keeps the issue in the papers.

Like I said in the other post Paul’s main job was to get enough delegates for Trump to win on the first ballot at the convention. He did that magnificently. Good job Paul.

Now a new phase of the campaign is here and it is expanding with new players coming on board. A new strategy is needed.

Part of Manafort’s ‘managing’ of Trump, I believe, was to convince him to endorse Ryan before his election.

Trump didn’t need to do that.
It is not the RNC or a nominee’s role to show preference in local republican elections, they should stay out of it. They should only support the eventual victor against the democrats.

So Manafort was for Ryan, Palin was for kicking him out.

Ryan and McConnell are going to be such thorns on Trumps side... sigh...

Precisely. Executive doing what is necessary, which includes cutting deadweights, low performers, and those who have done their jobs. It is not like Manafort is put out to pasture... just not managing the campaign.

When I first saw Manafort, the phrase ‘well preserved’ came to mind. Nothing wrong with looking your best, but something about him seemed sort of stuck in 1982-land.

I agree with you on that.

I never cared for Manaforts on air presence. He never seemed to be a great advocate, but he did the the stuff behind the scenes taken care of when it mattered

Whether he was or not, Manafort might as well have been the enemy within considering what Trump was doing under Manafort’s directions. Excellent move on Trump's part.

I agree with you there, not helpful to Trump. Maybe Palin thinks her comment showed Trump's decisiveness.

I thought the split is mostly due to Trump children (esp. Ivanka) don't see eye to eye.

Who knows about that. Trump had delegate “problems” all the way up to the convention. How much of that was neglect by Trump or on Manafort we’ll never know. It wasn’t until the RNC teamed up with Trump operatives at the convention that Trump was able to clamp down and secure his flanks.

seems Manafort distanced Palin from Trump and also pushed for pence as VP.

He wasn’t brought in as a top tier guy, he was brought in as a convention manager and vote-counter, which he did a perfect job of. Who knows what the deal between Trump and Manafort was? This might have been the plan all along, with him stepping in as Campaign Manager when Corey resigned on an interim basis. I don’t know but it’s at least as plausible as any other theory people are making up without facts to support it.

Bearn in mind that Manafort was brought in to serve as “convention manager” — a position from which he “will oversee, manage, and be responsible for all activities that pertain to Mr. Trump’s delegate process and the Cleveland Convention.” He declined to receive a salary for his work on Trump’s campaign.

I don't care for Palin's comments at all.

She should have kept her mouth shut.

What she said is no help to Mr. Trump's campaign. I gave up on her a long time ago for a variety of substantial reasons, even although I know she's a goddess to many freepers. I have no personal animosity to her, but to me, politically-wise, she's as useful in this campaign-to-the-death as a white crayon.

I haven't seen Mr. Trump utilizing her in any way since she delivered a couple of screeching, rambling speeches at the beginning, and she's not being utilized in any way as a spokesperson on TV such as we see with Gov. Huckabee and Mayor Giuliani. Wonder why...

Manafort lives in Trump Tower, is a close friend of the Trumps...and you better believe he's working closely with Donald every day, just off the record.

Why on earth is Palin bringing his name up today of all days (his successful flooding visit) and bashing an experienced and important cog in the Trump wheel by saying he's "canned" when she damn well knows he'll still be handling important aspects of the campaign.

CNN and PMSNBC will pick up her stupid words and run with them throughout the weekend and beyond....

Sheesh....

“She should have kept her mouth shut.”

I agree. Her comments here are not helpful, and perhaps self-serving.
