How old ws she? The piece doesn’t say. What kind of parents allow children to read things like this? A well raised child hasn’t much interest in reading stuff like this.

Kids are almost always attracted to reading material that is for adults only-it is just natural curiosity...

I was brought up by involved, loving parents in a traditional Tejano Catholic home-on a small family ranch-at 10 or so, I found where the copy of Peyton Place my mom was reading was kept-and did my own clandestine read when mom was busy elsewhere-I’d read a chapter or two, then return the book to where she kept it...

Even the most attentive parents can’t watch their kids every second...

There was a show in the early ‘70s called Tattletales. It was basically the Newlywed Game for married celebrities, where they were tasked with predicting how their spouses would answer a certain question. On one episode, the question was, “If you caught your 12-year-old daughter reading a pornographic book, would you take it away or let her keep reading it?” To a person, their answer was to let her keep reading it. They were very strong and proud of that answer, as though it was the only morally acceptable answer. I guess things haven’t changed in Hollyweird.
