Why doe MLK Blvd invariably run through some of the worst areas of a city? It's a gentle warning to white people as to the location of the high crime area.

Because the name was changed from something else long after the neighborhood changed.

Why doe MLK Blvd invariably run through some of the worst areas of a city? Like others say, it's a warning to beware. I have another daughter just moved to Des Moines recently, in a neighborhood that is getting gentrified near downtown. Pretty nice and going upscale. But go 6 blocks down and you run into MLK. Follow that another 6 blocks or more away from downtown and start seeing black faces everywhere, with run down homes. Needless to say, I stay away from MLK when visiting Des Moines.
