An old (and tiresome) debate appears to have been settled by those best positioned to settle it. According to Andrew Gripp, a former political science professor:
Since 9/11, one of the defining fault lines in American and Western politics has concerned whether jihadist groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIS are motivated by their religion or by politics or more specifically, by grievances against Western foreign policy. Some insist that Islamic doctrine is the basis of their violence, while others insist that such groups are not truly Islamic, but are instead using the guise of religion to lash out against Western influence and intervention.
After indicating how jihadist groups political behavior is consistently traceable to their beliefs about what the Quran, hadith, and respected commentaries say they have a divine injunction to do, Gripp writes

So bombing Muslims countries since the 1980s has nothing to do with the growth of Islamic terrorism?
If you hit a hornet’s nest with a stick will they not try to sting you?
You mean Islam is not a religion of peace?!?
George Bush was wrong, Islam is not a religion of peace.
“Islam is Peace” Says President
Remarks by the President at Islamic Center of Washington, D.C.

Nope. Islam has been spreading since the pedophile Mohammed preached his message of hate.
If you hit a hornets nest with a stick will they not try to sting you?
You are making the argument that Islam is justified in their violence due to everyone picking on them. Islam started it. Who then is the hornet in your analogy?
Literalist Islamic Terrorism.
Makes more sense than Radical Islamic Terrorism to me. They take the Koran literally. Can’t say that anyone has ever suggested there is a figurative way to interpret that book.
Just one example is the Armenian genocide of 1915 where Muslim Turkey genocided 2 million helpless Armenian Christian people , using the cover of WW1 to hide the genocide.
It is this that Hitler used as a model and after seeing no consequences to Turkey.
Islam is the threat. seems you are on the side of Islam
Islam informs its followers, that islam should be spread across the globe, by sword if necessary.
So they are doing so.
It is a violent expansionist political philosophy, the guise of religion.
The failure to grasp that it is Islam that motivates Moslem hate for the West is due to our elites having no religious faith themselves and therefore do not understand or recognize its power.
The men and women in positions of leadership or influence in government, business, or academia, in the West only understand power, money, and sexual motivations for human behavior because those are the motivations they posses.
That religious faith could drive men to acts, noble or ignoble, is utterly lost on them.
We need to entirely new leadership.
I take it you're writing about the U.S. bombing missions? So, explain why the terrorists are in the Philippines, Indonesia, Somalia, Egypt. Did THEY bomb the muslims, too?
Very well articulated.
But but but they just wanted jobs...!
We had not bombed them in the 1790’s and early 1800’s when they were taking American ships and enslaving the crews.
Islam has always been a religion of conquest, slavery and tyranny.
Their book tells them there cannot be peace until they have subjugated, converted or killed all the rest of humanity.
Mad Mo made it so.
Who hit the hornet's nest FIRST? Throughout history, WHO started conflicts involving muslims? Quit posting innuendo and lies trying to make it look like someone provoked the muslims. That is a complete falsehood. The killing of muslims ALWAYS follow some heinous crime THEY committed first.
Reality is the hornets went out and stung someone who had poison, fire, etc. at his/her disposal which is then justifiably used against the aggressor resulting in, eventually, the aggressor's complete and total annihilation. Posting disinformation and falsehoods will not change the outcome.
>If you hit a hornets nest with a stick will they not try to sting you?
Not if you eliminate the nest properly. islam must be isolated or removed from society.
I would like to point out one thing to the folks who keep trying to tell us WHO WE ARE. We cannot discriminate against moose limbs because that is not WHO WE ARE. We cannot tell people who have a different religion they cannot live amongst us because that is not WHO WE ARE.
Well, for good or ill, tell that to groups of people from the past. Tell that to the folks who held whatever religions of the Sioux or Apache. Moose limbs just might want to consider what happened to those folks because regrettably in some cases THAT IS WHO WE ARE.
The bombing has less to do with it than Islam. Read the Koran and see what it says about non-Muslims and then ask the question. Your response clearly puts you in the “America is the source of all evil in the world” group. Sound like a troll to me.
Muslims have been murdering and enslaving Christians and other non Muslims for over 1000 years. They have committed genocide against Christians and massacred Christians for centuries.
This is the most horrible thing I have ever read. It’s all hidden by the leftist media and historians. Islam is the ultimate evil. The Muslim Turks exterminated 2 million Christian Armenians in the most horrible way. the pictures on these sites are the most horrible thing I’ve ever seen:
https://markgeoffreykirshner.com/2015/04/20/gendercide-watch-the-armenian-genocide/
The Armenian genocide was one of the most massive root-and-branch exterminations ever carried out against a defenseless people. In 1915, as World War I raged, the Turkish government (ruler of the Ottoman Empire) decided upon the systematic extermination of most of the male Armenian population, and the forced deportation of the remainder, mostly women, children, and the elderly. The deportation became a death march, with extreme violence and deprivation leading to the death of most of the survivors of the initial gendercide as was intended. By the time the exhausted and traumatized survivors reached refuge in neighbouring countries, up to three-quarters of the entire Ottoman Armenian population had been exterminated.
