The Military Times survey is the closest thing you’ll find to an actual “poll” of the armed forces, but their sample is drawn from their subscriber list. Respondents are typically career officers or NCOs, and because of that, Military Times claims the results skew towards the GOP.
Hardly a perfect poll, but probably more accurate than some of the other “military” surveys that have appeared in recent days. Saw one from NBC that gave Trump a 10 point lead, but that poll also sampled veterans, a group that includes everyone from the 30-year military retiree who just left active duty, to members of the Greatest Generation who served in World War II and were discharged 70 years ago. By doing that, NBC can find enough “vets” who vote Democratic to drive Hillary’s numbers up a bit.
One of the more interesting polls I just glanced at is from the National Journal. Shows Trump with a solid lead among “military households” in swing states, including Virginia, North Carolina and Nevada. However, the graphic I saw on Twitter did show the percentages for each candidate. Military/veterans represent 10-13% of the electorate in all of those states.
I live in the Old Dominion and my job focuses on education and training programs for veterans. Virginia has more than 800,000 veterans and more than 115,000 military members, active duty and retired. That represents more than 10% of the electorate, with large concentrations in Hampton Roads, northern Virginia and central Virginia (Petersburg/Fort Lee area). Unfortunately, many of the active duty service members don’t vote in here (due to Virginia’s state income tax), and there are thousands of federal workers in the D.C. suburbs who can offset the GOP’s military advantage.
Still, Trump would be well-advised to go after the veterans vote—he needs all he can muster in Virginia and North Carolina. But he hasn’t spend anything on local media (Hillary’s ads have been up on area stations for two months) and there is no ground game that I can discern.
Time to get busy or go home.
I’ve always found Military Times to be inaccurate in their reporting like they have no clue what the military does. They are very left leaning/biased.

I don’t see ANY Clinton garnering much support in the military ranks. There are not enough toadying flag officers to bring Hillary’s numbers up above up above that.
Any general officer in the military that supports Clinton is a leftist appointed/promoted by Obama. You wouldn’t think that many liberals would be in the military, but among the officer ranks are many. That’s because of the 16 years of democrat rule since 1993. They have no problem with his not taking the fight to the enemy because they know nothing about fighting. Just about all the general officers that badmouth Trump were intelligence officers during the GWB and Obama years. Trump needs to completely clean house of these political appointees.
Not surprising, but the 0bama regime, along with the clinton crime syndicate, will suppress the military vote like they successfully did in the pastCorrect.
They always mail the voting cards to the Military overseas much too late for them to return them in time.
Any that do get back here in time are put on a desk until the election is over.
Trump still needs at least a 20% margin to counter all the ACORN/IllegalAlienNonCitizen votes and multiple voting etc

Any, that is in ANY, military person supporting Hillary has demonstrated 1) complete lack of intellectual ability to read, 2) no judgement, and 3) very shaky trustability.
These types will be first to obey the wench should she try to turn the military on us.
Glad I am retired now, because I would not and could not give any person who supported that “thing” a high efficiency report.
I’d guess that this shows that Trump, at this point really is hovering down around 45/50 percent...Frankly I doubt that his opponent is quite up that high.

That’s too true. I was in the sandbox in 09, and we were still receiving absentee ballots 9 months after the 08 election!
I would venture that at least a third of the ballots didn’t arrive until after December, meaning they couldn’t be counted at all.

my retirement certificate would be signed by George HW Bush and not the draft-dodging, military-hating Bill Clinton. Knew a lot of guys that did the exact same thing. ............................ LOL, I squeaked through 10/29/92 about a week before Clinton was elected. Thank God! It could have been worse, Obama. Poor Ba$tard$, those guys who retire if Hillary is elected. (then again, Hillary wanted to be a Marine, she wouldn’t lie about that, would she?)

Why any military member would prefer a lyin' sack of sh!t who is a proven money-grubbing criminal who sells official favors for dollars and compromises secrets by the boatload and hates the military for a Commander-in-Chief over a patriotic American who loves the military is beyond me.
I guess that is what years of enforced diversity-over-mission, political promotions taking precedence while cleaning out many patriotic leaders, and political correctness being the most important thing does to an organization.
