Pyracantha is the very best thing to plant outside windows and as hedges. Tough stems and extremely sharp inch-long thorns. Nobody tries twice to get through it.
Yup, we used to have a hedge of it at our last house. It is called firethorn for a very good reason. Cheap burglary deterrent.
