Blue Shield of California (BSC) will be shutting down for four days following Labor Day weekend as a way to stop the financial bleeding resulting from losses in Covered California, the states Obamacare exchange program.
The change will affect most of [BSCs] 6,000 employees in California, the San Francisco Business Times reports, although the exact number of workers involved hasnt yet been tabulated. But BSC hopes that the move could save an estimated $4 million.
According to the Times, BSC spokesman Steve Shivinsky said, This is certainly not normal for us. Were definitely seeing some income challenges as of mid-year.

Are we watching the actual final implosion of Obamacare happen right now? Will it impact the election?
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Just in time for the Republican to take over the White House and get the full blame. This is like the 9/11 of the insurance world.
Just in time for the Republican to take over the White House and get the full blame.
Thing is, the ONLY two things I care about in this presidential race are:
1. Repeal of Obamacare
2. Abandonment of the AGW concerns.
Everything else is a VERY distant third. The second amendment will take care of Islam. I’m not really worried about it.
Well, If the country is going to collapse, I say lets do it with a BANG! :-)
Good!
Anyone who tried to profit from mandatory medical insurance or any other corrupt version of crony capitalism deserves all the misery they encounter. I hope every company voluntarily involved with Obamacare goes bankrupt and all Obamacare supporters in those companies lose their jobs.
The law actually becomes irrelevant if that happens.
Sometimes I feel like Francisco d’Anconia arguing with Dagney Taggart.
i.e. people are missing the real problem, and the real solution.
This is why I call my property in south central KY “Galt’s Knob”.
It won’t staunch the Bleeding.
“Will it impact the election?”

No !

A lot of us here were predicting that the insurance companies would sign on - for higher profits - only to be destroyed in the end. And we also argued that the politicians supporting it knew that was the way it would go down - followed by a push for single payer.
I’m not too worried because I’ve gone without health insurance since obamacare became a requirement and I’ve reduced my “taxable income” to where the main imact on my family will be that we are living in the damaged culture single payer will create. And since we own our own 32 acre garden of eden, we’ll not have much need to step foot off of it anyway. We only have a decade or two left to live anyway, Lord willing.
More and more, I see western civilization as the movie Dr. Zivago, but without the love story.
I really think that the shape of SCOTUS would have to be a top concern with the next POTUS. If it's Hillary, you won't get any of the things on your wish list...a whole lot of other things will go south as well.
Yeah. That is one reason I’m against hillary. But you also probably understand why I was not big on Trump. Cruz was all over those two things, which is why I backed him.
I was quite excited when Trump called AGW dumb (I don’t remember the exact quote). He’s been relatively silent on that issue, and that made me nervous.
What the borders?
What about the migrant stoppage?
What about our Veterans?
What about saying Merry Christmas again
None are relevant.
ALL jobs are going away, and soon so borders are not an issue for me:

Migrants will be stopped from doing bad things by CCW citizens.
Veterans? Not a high priority for me. We are also quickly reaching a point where very few actual human beings will be put in harms way on a battlefield. Robots, drones, long range detection, etc. That is why the Iraq war was not protested. When you have tens of thousands of men coming home in body bags (e.g. Vietnam), there are few americans not directly affected by the war. People tire of it. When it’s only a few thousand over a full decade, well, not enough people are affected to stir up any real anti-war movement. Expect future wars to be even moreso. We’ll be able to do huge damage to the enemy and only rally lose expensive ordinance - expensive because we have to pay people wages to manufacture it, keeping job growth strong. (needless to say, I’m being tongue in cheek here)
Saying Merry Christmas?
With that one it suddenly hit me that your post is tongue in cheek. :-)

All going according to plan.

Remember when the insurers thought they were going to profit from Obamacra? Karma is a girl dog, baby.
