Everything here is great except that last sentence.

Flirting with recession???

Try up to our eyeballs in a full fledged depression.

Hasn’t this been the program of EVERY Democrat (except maybe for Kennedy) running for office since about the time of FDR? The “New Deal” has been the economic model that the Democrats consider so perfect, so fully developed, that it needs no further modification, and may be applied in any era.

Regardless of the economic status of the times.

And inevitably, the program takes a simple recession, which is most often self-limiting, and turns it into a roaring and almost endless DEPRESSION.

Sure, 1933 was bad. But 1938 was much, much worse. The only thing that broke up the Depression was the onset of WW II, and the elimination of unemployment by a near-universal draft of young men ages 18 to 35, and some older men up to their 40’s. In fact, the ranks of employable men was so reduced that the women at home were working in the factories and the business operations all over America.

The fact that some 406,000 young men did not come home at all, and millions more had various degrees of war-related injuries, only exacerbated this change in employment demographics.
